Fortnite has a history of introducing stunning and extravagant live events to its playerbase. These offer an experience that players would not be able to get in real life and often feature their favorite musical artists.
Over the years, the Fortnite metaverse has only seen growth — as well as popular personalities like Marshmello, Ariana Grande, Travis Scott, and more — through various collaborations taking place on the game's interactive island. Moreover, the title has offered numerous original live events that concluded a particular season and beautifully led into the next one.
While the history of live events in Fortnite has been quite dynamic, here are eight of them that were simply regarded as a class apart from the rest.

8 best Fortnite events that were a class apart
8) Star Wars: Live at Risky Reels (Chapter 2 Season 1)
The first major live event of Chapter 2 arrived ahead of the release of Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker and brought an official collaboration with the famous movie franchise. Star Wars: Live at Risky Reels kicked off with a Millennium Falcon fighting off Tie Fighters on the island and ultimately landing in the center of Risky Reels.
Subsequently, the director of the ninth Star Wars film, J.J. Abrams, was introduced by Geoff Keighley. The former asked players to vote for a scene they would like to see from Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. The clip was then shown on the big screen in-game. As he departed in the Falcon, players saw a chest get introduced, which added one of the most revolutionary Mythic items in-game: The Lightsabers.
7) Rift Tour ft. Ariana Grande (Chapter 2 Season 6)
One of the best concerts to ever happen in Fortnite, which presented several noteworthy moments, was Ariana Grande's Rift Tour. The Chapter 2 Season 6 live event kicked off smoothly and took players on a journey across several biomes spread across the multiverse.
A key highlight of the Rift Tour was when loopers rode an X4-Stormwing and defeated the Storm King. Ariana looked like a legitimate queen throughout the event, leaving her fans and loopers — who were surrounded by beautiful imagery — in awe of her voice. This made the Rift Tour one of the best events in Fortnite history.
6) Showtime ft. Marshmello - Live at Pleasant Park (Chapter 1 Season 7)
The first concert to ever happen on the island was Marshmello's Showtime at Pleasant Park. While the artist performed for players on a stage, they saw that the POI (point of interest) was decorated like an actual concert venue.
The loopers danced and emoted on Marshmello's famous tracks, including his latest at the time featuring rapper Logic: Everyday. This live event kicked off the trend of concerts in a virtual metaverse like Fortnite, and since then, nothing has matched the joy inspired by this particular event. The masked personality truly brought the party in Chapter 1 Season 7.
5) The End (Chapter 1 Season X)
The live event that changed the future of Fortnite was Chapter 1 Season X's The End. In it, gamers saw a barrage of rockets blast through several rifts multiple times while a huge meteor descended towards the island. Ultimately, it hit the Zero Point, which completely sucked the island into a black hole, taking the game offline for more than two days. This was how Fortnite's second chapter started, The End revolutionized the game forever.
4) The Devourer of Worlds (Chapter 2 Season 4)
The Devourer of Worlds, also known as the Galactus live event, kicked off the finale for the entirely Marvel-themed Chapter 2 Season 4. For the first time, players drove the Battle Bus and fought Galactus, and, thanks to Tony Stark's tech, emerged victorious.
The live event saw Marvel heroes teaming up with players to fight the humongous villain who tried harnessing the power of Zero Point as it kept fighting back. Eventually, players rode the bus rigged with explosives right into his mouth and defeated him. This event is regarded for its dynamic gameplay offered in the style of a Marvel film that had various elements like Stark's rock music to keep loopers at the edge of their seats.
3) Operation Skyfire (Chapter 2 Season 7)
Operation Skyfire is regarded as one of the longest Fortnite events in the game. Loopers were tasked by Agent Slone of the Imagined Order to blow the Kymera Mothership as it was rigged with explosives. This event saw the player's backpack acting as a remote detonator.
Loopers went inside the mothership, navigating their way away from the Kymera aliens and reaching a safe point where they saw Bluevin (the blue version of Kevin the Cube), which was one of the turning points in the game. However, ultimately, Slone betrayed loopers for her own motives involving the island, leaving players stranded inside the ship.
While looking for an escape route, loopers saw several more cubes light up, marking the arrival of The Last Reality on the island. As the ship exploded, millions of cubes fell on the island, and loopers crashed on it, along with the mothership.
The live event made players realize the potential the game had, and some even wanted Epic Games to make Operation Skyfire into a fully-fledged Single Player game as it impressed the community and set the bar for future live events high.
2) The Final Showdown (Chapter 1 Season 9)
One of the best Fortnite live events ever to come to the game, The Final Showdown in Chapter 1 Season 9 was no less than a Transformers film. This was the first time players saw the Polar Peak Monster, Cattus, walk on the island like a giant. Moreover, Mecha arrived in heroic style to their rescue.
As the event progressed, Cattus ripped off Mecha's arm as the latter grabbed the Zero Point and harnessed its energy to punch the monster. Ultimately, Mecha revealed that his blade was underground and stabbed Cattus right in the head.
The battle between the two was a spectacle to witness as Mecha flossed his way to victory. Eventually, the robotic giant flew into space, never to be seen again until Collision in Chapter 3.
1) Travis Scott's Astronomical (Chapter 2 Season 2)
The best Fortnite live event that outclassed all others is none other than Travis Scott's Astronomical in Chapter 2 Season 2. The musical artist brought Astroworld to Sweaty Sands as loopers enjoyed the artist's hit tracks, with him performing everywhere across the POI in his giant avatar.
From walking on water to swimming underwater and floating in space, Travis took loopers on a journey they had never experienced in a live event before. This is why Astronomical is considered the best event featuring a musical artist to ever take place in-game.
