Presently, there are a total of 17 Haystacks on the island in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1. Unsurprisingly, they are all located in and around Frenzy Fields. With this POI being the center of farming and food production on the island, it makes sense for Haystacks to be located here.

That said, with the POI being rather spacious and expansive, finding a Haystack will take a fair amount of effort. Players should try to secure the high ground to spot one and gather enough loot before heading out into the field (quite literally) to interact with it.

Where to find Haystacks in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1

As mentioned, all Haystacks in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 can be found in Frenzy Fields. Just like a real-life farm, it's rather spaced out. Players will have to put in some legwork to find them. That said, here are all of their locations:

  • Proper Pastures

To make the task of spotting these Haystacks easier, players can climb to the top of nearby buildings or build tall structures to get a better field of view. Remember not to linger too long on open high ground as the Heavy Sniper rifle has been unvaulted, with a single headshot likely to be disastrous if you stand still.

How do Haystacks work in Chapter 4 Season 1?

For newcomers to the game, Haystacks might seem rather odd at first glance. However, for those who have been around since Chapter 2 Season 1, they're well aware of how useful Haystacks can be.

Unlike other assets/objects present on the island, Haystacks are not just destructible, but interactable as well. They fall under the classification of "Hideouts" and work exactly as one would imagine.

Players can interact with them to hide from enemies that are present in the same area. As long as the person hiding doesn't jump out, opponents won't be able to spot them. However, there are ways to bypass this hide-and-seek mechanic.

Falcon Scouts can be used to scan the area and reveal all interactable objects/assets and opponents in the area. While this method is rather high-tech considering that the item may not be at hand when required, there's a low-tech method to find hidden opponents as well.

Rather than scanning Haystacks, players/opponents can simply destroy them using bullets, rockets, or even fire. If needed, a vehicle fitted with a Cow Catcher can be used to smash right through it and obliterate it into smithereens.

Is it worth hiding in Haystacks?

Taking into account the current loot pool, hiding in Haystacks to give opponents the slip isn't going to work very well. As mentioned, enemy players can use a Falcon Scout to find you or swing a Shockwave Hammer to destroy the Haystack with ease.

At present, it's best to stay mobile rather than hide during an encounter. This doesn't exactly mean that stealth is no good, it just means that it cannot be used at all times. Moving around and engaging targets or staying away from targets is a better alternative in more ways than one.

The only reason it's worth hiding in a Haystack in Chapter 4 Season 1 is to complete a challenge associated with it. With 16,000 experience points on the line, it's worth taking the effort to hide inside one during a match.
