What are the Wastelander Challenges in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3?
Wastelander challenges are extreme challenges that players can accept during the match from Wasteland beacons or markers spread across the map.
These attributes have negative effects on your gameplay, limiting your abilities or gameplay with a handicap that you must carry till the end of the game. The only way to get massive XP from these challenges is by winning a Victory Royale and earning accolades during the game.
How many Wastelander challenges are there and how to get them?
The Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 map, Wrecked, has a total of six Wastelander challenges spread across the map in specific Wastelander beacons.
Here is a list of all the Wastelander challenges and their attributes:
- Burnin Hot Items: The player takes damage whenever picking up items. This applies to health, shield, and ammunition.
- Jammed Clips: Reloading is disabled for the player during the entire match.
- Full Throttle: The player takes damage if standing still during the entire match. The player has to keep moving, jumping, or sliding to avoid continuous damage.
- The Ground is Lava: The player continues to take damage if touching the ground. The player has to drive, keep building, or find an alternative for the duration of the entire match
- Unshielded: The player cannot gain shield from shield bottles, slurp, oasis, or any replenished items.
- Perma-damage: The most difficult attribute where Health and Shield items are unusable by the player for the entire match. The player starts with the health and shield available before accepting the challenge.
You can get hold of the Wastelander challenges in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 from one of the four Wastelander beacons spread across the map. Simply approach it and interact with it to accept it. Keep playing until you are either eliminated or claim your Victory Royale.
Where are the Wastelander Beacons in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3?
The Wastelander Beacons are spread across four locations on the map. You can head to the beacon and interact with it to read and accept the challenge. Here are the locations of all the Wasteland Beacons:
- First Beacon - Located near Rebel's Roost
- Second Beacon - Located further East of Classy Courts at Slumberyard
- Third Beacon - Located at the extreme South-East of Brutal Beachhead beside the Megalo Depot
- Fourth Beacon - Located just South of Reckless Railways
The beacon can be found only in these four locations. Stand in front of the beacon to interact with it and accept the challenge.
When are the Wastelander Challenges available on the map?
The Wastelander Challenges are available only till the second storm circle closes. You must reach the beacons and accept the challenge before that to successfully start the challenge.
After the second storm circle closes, you cannot interact with the beacons and you will have to wait for a new match before trying your luck again. Thus, accept the challenge before it's too late.
What should players do to prepare before accepting a Wastelander Challenge?
It is recommended to stock up on healing and shield items as well as max out your ammo types before accepting these challenges. This is because most Wastelander challenges will severely handicap your character's ability to heal or fight opponents.
Also, keep a customized vehicle parked nearby, so if the challenge turns out to be Full-throttle or the ground is lava, you have an advantage and an increased chance of surviving instead of rushing to find your nearest vehicle.
The Wastelander challenges in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 are a unique and challenging way to spice up your Fortnite gameplay and earn plenty of XP in the process.
However, be careful and stay well-prepared before taking up such a challenge in Fortnite's exciting new Wrecked map, which is packed with new items and named locations as part of the Fallout collaboration that is seen majorly across the map.
