As effective as stretched resolutions are, players cannot select these custom resolutions from the in-game display settings of Fortnite. Instead, players must edit the game files to make these changes.

The first thing that players must do is make sure the fullscreen setting is enabled in Fortnite display settings. After that, players must follow these steps:

  1. Press Windows + R
  2. In the run section, type %localappdata% in the bar and hit enter
  3. Navigate to the FortniteGame folder
  4. Go to the Saved\Config\WindowsClient folder
  5. Open the GameUserSettings by double-clicking it and enabling the text editor

Once the file is open, players must replace the existing resolution values with the stretched resolution values mentioned earlier:

  • ResolutionSizeX=1920 (replace these values)
  • ResolutionSizeY=1080 (replace these values)
  • LastUserConfirmedResolutionSizeX=1920 (replace these values)
  • LastUserConfirmedResolutionSizeY=1080 (replace these values)

Change the graphics card settings to apply the stretched resolution

These settings can differ for players based on the brand of graphics card they are using. Here are the settings for AMD and Nvidia cards:

AMD

  • Open Radeon settings and select the display tab
  • Then select Create custom resolution and input the stretched resolution
  • Save the settings
  • Open display settings on your desktop and select custom resolution to apply it to your device

Nvidia

  • Open the Nvidia Control Panel and select Change resolution
  • Select Create Custom and enter the stretched resolution values
  • Select test
  • Apply and save

This is how players can save and apply the stretched resolution to their gaming devices and activate the stretched resolution. They are a great way to boost FPS, improve aim, and battle it out in the latest season sprinkled with a host of new items and consumables, weapons, and NPC bosses.
