How to unlock the Master Chief Matte Black Style in Fortnite
According to Epic Games, players who play a match on the Xbox Series X|S console after purchasing the Master Chief Outfit will unlock the Matte Black Style. It is essentially meant to be a tribute to the legacy of Halo in Xbox's history and a way to thank console players.
Players simply need to head into a match from their Xbox Series X|S console after purchasing the outfit to get the matte black variant of the Master Chief outfit as a reward. It is not mandatory to wear the OG outfit and play a match to obtain this cosmetic variant.
As per Epic Games, there is "no time limit for unlocking the style". This suggests that players can unlock the variant at any time after purchasing. However, many players have complained of not receiving the cosmetic style despite purchasing and playing a match after the OG outfit returned to the Fortnite Item Shop today, December 23, 2024.
As of this writing, Epic Games has not addressed this issue or provided a timeline as to if and when players who obtained the OG outfit will receive the Master Chief Matte Black Style in Fortnite.
