Fortnite has built one of the strongest communities in the five years it has been active. This is due in part to the quality of the game itself. Players usually don't stick around for titles they think are undeserving.

Another big reason players are so dedicated to Fortnite is that Epic Games largely treats them well. It generally listens to fan feedback and makes the necessary changes to the game.

Unfortunately, that's not true all the time. Every once in a while, the developer makes terrible mistakes. Listed below are a few examples of when they made these errors.

Suing a teenager, re-releasing iconic skins, and other times Epic Games made crucial mistakes when it came to Fortnite

1) Calamity's physics

Back in 2018, one Fortnite skin was unintentionally made a little more realistic than it should have been.

Calamity was a customizable skin on the Battle Pass during Chapter 1 Season 6. The first version of the character wore a white tank top and jean shorts.

Many players pointed out that Calamity's body physics and what happened when she performed the Jubilation emote were inappropriate for a game that largely had a young audience.

Epic Games fixed the issue, saying it was not responsible for the animation and that it was unsure how it came about in the game.

2) Suing a teenager

In 2017, Epic Games discovered that one of their younger players was using cheats in Fortnite.

The developer subsequently banned the 14-year-old from the game. The move was considered normal because that's what the company usually did when that kind of thing happened.

However, Epic Games didn't stop there. It went ahead and sued the teenager. The two parties settled the three-year-lawsuit in 2021.

3) Choosing iOS first

When Fortnite first became a mobile game, it was only available on iOS. Android players did not have access to it because Epic Games chose to prioritize iOS.

The decision wasn't considered fair, but it ended rather ironically since the game is currently banned on iOS. Android players are now the only mobile gamers that Epic Games has left, and this might be true indefinitely.

The developer certainly had reasons for doing this, but it came off like they didn't care about Android users.

4) Ignoring the Nintendo Switch

There are plenty of gamers who play Fortnite on the Nintendo Switch and not an Xbox, PlayStation, or PC. It's a very popular console.

Unfortunately, the game is less than optimized on the platform. It's much better than when it was first made available, but it's still considered to be the worst version.

This shouldn't be the case because Fortnite is a cross-platform game that's supposed to be the same on all platforms.

5) Re-releasing iconic skins

Over the years, Epic Games has brought back old, iconic skins (with slight changes if any), like the Skull Trooper, long after they were first made available. Tons of players bought it, making it worthless and not rare at all.

This was a slap in the face to players who had bought one back when it was first available. Hopefully, the developer will not do the same with Battle Pass skins.

6) Inappropriate symbol

In 2018, some Fortnite players discovered that the game created a swastika at the junction of metal flooring when laid in a specific manner.

After putting four metal floors together, the center of the new square would show what looked like the unfortunate symbol from the German regime during World War II. It's unclear how this happened or why.

Epic Games has since changed the game's building materials and fixed the issue.
