During the Fortnite v23.30 update, many Bamboo trees were added to the map. Much like the Tall Grass from Chapter 3, they were indestructible and stood out from the rest of the assets on the island. However, due to reasons unknown, they were removed following the update, v23.40.
Although Bamboos generally do not correspond to anything significant in the game's storyline, they are somewhat related to a major POI. In Chapter 1, Season 3, Lucky Landing was introduced to the island. It was added as a celebratory POI to bring in the Chinese New Year.
But given how popular it became in ragtime, the developers decided to leave it in-game until the end of Chapter 1, Season 10 (X). Based on the speculative information, Epic Games is working on a POI similar to this old-school location.

The bamboozling case of the Bamboos in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1
As mentioned by Fortnite theorist FNChiefAko, Epic Games is working on a "Dojo" POI. They have also set up AI spawn locations in the Bamboo Area/Biome for the upcoming season.
This would explain why they were randomly added and unceremoniously removed from the Bamboo trees from the map. Perhaps it was done to test the assets in real-time, or they added it to create some hype and mystery.
That said, FNChiefAko also mentions that this could hint at the actual theme of Chapter 4, Season 2. And that a POI similar to Lucky Landing or something entirely new will be added in.
Nevertheless, without hardcore evidence from data miners to support this theory, it should be taken with a pinch of salt. With less than 20 days to go until the new season arrives, leaks regarding the same (if they exist) should start appearing soon.
What could Fortnite Chapter 4, Season 2's theme be?
With Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 being medieval-themed, it's anyone's guess in which direction Epic Games will go. They can move forward to the renaissance era, so to speak, or create a jumbled-up timeline that will simultaneously showcase two time periods. The current season has a similar setup.
On the one hand, there are medieval structures made from stone, while on the other, POIs like Frenzy Fields have vehicles with solar panels powering them. That being the case, the theme for the upcoming season is best left to speculation, for the time being at least.
However, leaning on the fact that Bamboo trees play a significant role in Japanese culture, many want Epic Games to do a Japanese Cyberpunk-themed season. Given how popular the genre has become in recent times, it would most definitely fit in well.
With Outfits that already fit the bill, adding them to the game via the Item Shop or Battle Pass will not be too difficult. With all that said, keeping wishful thinking aside, in all probability, the theme for Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 will pick up from where the current season ends.
The theme is likely to pivot in that direction depending on what happens to key characters like Rift Warden Stellan, The Scientist, and Shapeless Man. Keep in mind that with the Rift Gate nearly operational, there's no telling what happens next. Players will have to be patient and see how things play out.
