Epic Games has announced a brand-new first-person shooter mode called Fortnite Ballistic. Fortnite is known for being a third-person shooter so the announcement of Ballistic has certainly created major waves.
Unsurprisingly, the announcement has left the gaming community stunned, and many players are excited to try out this new experience. So, here's everything you need to know about Fortnite Ballistic.

The newest first-person shooter experience, Fortnite Ballistic is a 5v5 round-based game where players must use strategy, tactical teamwork, and individual skills.
The game mode will pitch players in two teams — attackers and defenders. While the attackers' objective is to plant a reality-tearing bomb, the defenders must do their best to prevent the attackers from planting and detonating the explosive.
Ballistic features a host of unique weapons and devices that players can use to buff their gameplay and emerge victorious. They begin with a starter weapon and limited credits as players fight each other to score the maximum points and win a total of seven rounds.

How to play Fortnite Ballistic
Fortnite Ballistic begins with a total of ten players who are sorted into two groups — attackers and defenders. The goal for the attackers is to plant a reality-tearing Rift Point Device, which is essentially a bomb. As for the defenders, their goal is to prevent the said bomb from being planted or worse, exploding.
Players begin the game with a Ranger Pistol and 800 credits. Credits are currency that you can use to purchase weapons and additional items to bolster your chances of winning. You earn credits by eliminating opponents and planting the Rift Point Device. You can purchase weapons and attachments at the beginning of each round and if you survive, the items are carried forward to the next round.
After six rounds of gameplay, the sides are swapped — allowing attackers to become defenders and vice versa. The team that wins a total of seven rounds will emerge victorious. Using the in-game scoreboard, you can keep track of stats and see your teammates' scores as well as what weapons they are using.
Unlike regular game modes, Fortnite Ballistic does not have any respawn. If you are eliminated, you lose all your gear and must wait for a new round to be started. Additionally, if you or any teammate does not have enough credits to purchase weapons or items, you can drop them for use by others. You can also pick up weapons and items from the eliminated players and keep them if you survive.
The Rift Point Device explodes 45 seconds after it is deployed. Once planted, the attackers must protect the weapon from the defenders who can defuse it to claim victory. Keep in mind that any players caught in the blast radius will be eliminated, losing all weapons and gear earned.
Ballistic offers players an assortment of weapons such as pistols, assault rifles, and sniper rifles — ensuring players can play according to their preferred class and playstyle. The mode also offers flex gadgets like the proximity mine, bubble shield, recon grenade, and more to make the gameplay even more exciting and eventful.

How many players can play Fortnite Ballistic
Ballistic can be played by ten players, split into two teams of five. Similar to Fortnite Battle Royale, Fortnite Ballistic has two modes — unranked and ranked. Unranked offers players a casual experience where they can hone their skills without the fear of being penalized or losing their standings.
On the other hand, the Ranked mode will pitch players against each other in serious competition and if a player leaves, replacement players will not be backfilled. Furthermore, if a player leaves a ranked match, they will be hit with a rank penalty and will not be able to join another match for a set period.
When does Fortnite Ballistic release
Fortnite Ballistic is set to release on December 11, 2024. Players will be able to access this new game mode within Fortnite itself. Currently, the game will be released with one map, Skyline. However, Epic Games has promised to add more maps in the coming future.
At launch, Ballistic will be available on all platforms and regions where Fortnite is supported, except for South Korea and Russia. Epic Games has assured players that they are working on bringing the game mode to those two regions as well and will provide an update soon.
