Epic Games shocked the community when they announced that they were going to change the way Fortnite Battle Pass exclusivity works. Since the start of Chapter 1 Season 1, Battle Passes have been exclusive, sacred in fact. Players would grind as much as possible to complete it within the shortest amount of time. If they missed out on completing the Battle Pass or, for some reason, missed the season itself, the rewards would no longer be obtainable.
This led to massive FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) within the community. As such, players do everything in their power to ensure they reach seasonal level 200 as fast as possible. Well, that's all about to change thanks to Epic Games removing Fortnite Battle Pass exclusivity.
This means that players will be able to buy cosmetics featured in the Fortnite Battle Pass after 18 or more months from the expiration date. This would include Outfits, Back Blings, Pickaxes, Emotes, Instruments, Decals, Wraps, Loading Screens, Banner Icons, and more.
Due to these radical changes, veteran Fortnite leaker HYPEX believes Chapter 5 Season 4 will be packed to the brim with collaborations.

Fortnite Battle Pass exclusivity removal could hint at more collaborations to come
As stated by Epic Games, one of the major reasons for changing Fortnite Battle Pass exclusivity was due to licensed (“IP”) content. This encompasses all cosmetics that are related to content featured in the Battle Pass from other IPs. The most recent example is the T-60 Power Armor (Outfit) from the Fallout franchise.
When the Wrecked Battle Pass reaches its expiration date, this Outfit will be vaulted. For those who missed it, there's no way to ever get it again unless Epic Games decides to add variations of the Outfit.
Good examples of this are the recent Deadpool (Pen & Ink) and Wolverine (Pen & Ink) (Outfits). Due to the originals being vaulted, these were added as part of the recent Deadpool & Wolverine collaboration.
Circling back to the original point, HYPEX believes that these changes made to Fortnite Battle Pass exclusivity were done for the upcoming season. Given that the leaked Fortnite 2024 roadmap states that Doctor Victor Von Doom will make a return, it all but confirms that the entirety of the season will be Marvel-themed. Since it has happened once, it can happen again.
Leaked in-game dialogue between characters even hints at The Wanderer being Doctor Doom. With Magneto in the storyline, it sets the upcoming season for a speculator Marvel crossover like never before. With a massive crossover comes numerous collaborations.
Now that changes have been made to the availability of Battle Pass cosmetics, even if these upcoming collaborations are part of the Fortnite Battle Pass, those who miss out on them will get a second chance to purchase whatever they miss out on from the Fortnite Item Shop 18 months down the line. Although this will be a long wait, players will not be left high and dry.
That said, since a Battle Pass is discounted in a way and only costs 950 V-Bucks, players will end up spending more buying cosmetics they missed out on individually. It would be an expensive affair given that Outfits tend to cost anywhere between 800 (Aura) and 2,000 (Chomp Sr.) V-Bucks. But having the option open to them is amazing nonetheless.
Epic Games would also make a profit from players buying these cosmetics. In short, more options, less FOMO, a win-win situation for everyone involved.
On an ending note, some believe that today's Fortnite Item Shop fiasco involving The Paradigm was the catalyst for this. Others believe it has been planned for some time now. Epic Games was only waiting for the perfect moment to implement these changes and remove Fortnite Battle Pass exclusivity for good.
