The Deku Smash Mythic is one of the most powerful items in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1. It's probably the most fun Mythic to be added to the battle royale title in recent memory as well.
However, it's very difficult to survive. If a player attacks an enemy with one, there's a good chance that the attacker will win the battle — it is that powerful. It is possible, however, to avoid being immediately killed by the Mythic. Let's explore just how to do that.
Tips and tricks for surviving the Deku Smash Mythic item in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1
Tip 1: Always have full health

If you are operating at less than full health and shields, you are in grave danger of dying from the Deku Smash. This item can deal 100 to 150 damage, so if you are within or below that range, you're in trouble.
To avoid this problem, make sure yout health bar is always full and that you always have healing items on hand. A couple of bullets to deplete some shields can leave you as a potential one-shot for the Deku Mythic.
It's always a good idea to have full health and shields, but when something like the Deku Smash is present in Fortnite, it's imperative to remain above its damage level.
Tip 2: Stay on the ground
The Deku Smash Mythic in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 can destroy builds. If it hits you while you're up in a build and you fall, you'll receive the 100 damage (or 150) that the punch itself deals, but then you'll likely fall to the earth and die from fall damage. If it hits for 150 damage, then you can easily fall and take the last 50.
If you're low enough, you can avoid that, but it's still very dangerous nonetheless. Unfortunately, this means you can likely never get the high ground if someone has the Deku Smash, but that's the price to be paid when facing an item like this. If an opponent is charging up the Mythic, it is highly advised to get to the ground as soon as possible.
Tip 3: Hide behind builds
The Deku Smash can go through builds, so it's not really a good idea to box oneself in and hope for the best. This is, in all likelihood, a futile attempt.
It is, however, a good idea to take cover behind things or builds. This will do two things. First, it might absorb some of the damage. Instead of the full 150, you might only get tagged for 100 damage and that is far preferable.
Second, it might cause them to miss. If they can't see you inside a building while they're charging up, it's a lot harder to get hit directly and be dealt the most damage.
Where to find the Deku Smash Mythic in Fortnite Chapter 4?
If you want to find the Deku Smash Mythic in Fortnite, it's going to be a little bit easier said than done. This is a Mythic weapon and they're not that common.
The first way is through an All-Might Supply Drop. These are only around for the Fortnite x My Hero Academia crossover and they're available to everyone as they drop down the map.
The second option is through special vending machines that offer a small chance to possess the item. These can sell out quickly, though, so you need to find one as soon as possible.
The Mythic expires after three uses, so you should stock up.
