5 items that left a mark on players in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2
1) Chains of Hades
The Chains of Hades were one of the more contentious additions to Chapter 5 Season 2. While the weapon was quite weak at launch, once players got the hang of it, it became one of the most broken items added to the game in a while. Not only did it introduce a component of melee combat to the game, it allowed gamers to essentially pull enemies out of vehicles and beat them down.
Since the item was added as an item for Hades, it is not likely to stay in the title once Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 launches and the Greek Mythology saga comes to an end.
2) Thunderbolt of Zeus
The Thunderbolt of Zeus was practically one of the most powerful items in the game when Chapter 5 Season 2 was launched, allowing players to throw three lightning bolts in a row at enemies and even causing damage through builds.
While the inclusion was heavily nerfed halfway through Chapter 5 Season 2, it has managed to be the perfect encapsulation of Fortnite's Greek Mythology theme and let players feel as powerful as Zeus himself.
With him seemingly defeated and slowly being written out of the storyline, it is not likely that gamers will see the Thunderbolt of Zeus as a part of the Chapter 5 Season 3 loot pool.
3) Stygian Waters
Stygian Waters was undoubtedly one of the more underrated additions to Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, with the Underworld biome of the map housing seas of green waters. Immersing themselves in this liquid gave players an ability to dash forward and even negate fall damage. The introduction of Stygian Waters definitely helped with a mobility issue that a lot of players were facing in Chapter 5 Season 1.
Since Epic Games is known to take mobility features like the Stygian Waters out of the game after one season, it is not likely that it will be a part of the map in Chapter 5 Season 3.
4) Banana of the Gods
A more low-key item that was introduced in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, the Banana of the Gods became a beloved healing item due to its ability to fully restore players' health when consumed while also providing increased speed and jumps for 20 seconds.
The item is used by many players, and for good reason: it can be quite useful in competitive situations. Because healing items introduced in alignment with a season's theme have a reputation of being removed from the game once the season is over, it is not likely that the Banana of the Gods will be in Chapter 5 Season 3.
5) Waterbending Mythic
Undoubtedly the most contentious addition to Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, the Waterbending Mythic was one of the most powerful collaborative items the game has seen in a while.
Introduced as a part of the title's collaboration with Avatar The Last Airbender, the Waterbending Mythic proved to be one of the most useful items in Chapter 5 Season 2, with its high damage output, infinite ammo, and ability to heal players while they were in the water.
Since Fortnite's collaboration with Avatar The Last Airbender concludes with the end of the Chapter 5 Season 2 Battle Pass and Korra's removal from the game, the Waterbending Mythic will likely be vaulted once Chapter 5 Season 3 launches.
