Shortly after Elon Musk posted about Apple threatening to withhold Twitter from its App Store, Fortnite's CEO, Tim Sweeney, chimed in with some comments that ignited a wave of speculation about a throwback skin. Sweeney shared the Nineteen Eighty-Fortnite - #FreeFortnite video on Twitter.

The intriguing part about his post is that he has confirmed the existence of another Tart Tycoon skin. This was revealed after Sweeney was asked by a user if the Tart Tycoon would return to the game. Sweeney said:

"We'll see! The art team actually designed two outfits on the theme. Tart Tycoon is just the first. Time will tell what happens here."

What may be trivial for some is an important reason for OG players to be happy. Given that the cosmetic was last available in 2020, its return will likely draw a lot of attention. There is an interesting story behind why skin is popular.

Fortnite v Apple: The rise of Tart Tycoon

Fortnite was banned on iOS following a dispute between the two corporations over the payment gateway and Apple's share of the revenue from in-game transactions. Given the verdict of the Epic Games v. Apple lawsuit, it's safe to say assume that the game will not be back on iOS anytime soon.

While players could bypass the issue by using GeForce Now and Microsoft's Xbox Cloud Gaming, most of the community has been unable to adapt. Due to this, Epic Games lost over 1/3 or nearly 116 million iOS players.

In retaliation to the game being blocked, on August 14, 2020, Epic released a parody video of Apple's famous '1984' Super Bowl ad. It was meant to highlight Fortnite's struggles against Apple's overarching system. A note that appears in the video states:

"Epic Games has defied the App Store Monopoly. In retaliation, Apple is blocking Fortnite from a billion devices. Join the fight, to stop 2020 from becoming "1984."

A few days after the ordeal began, Epic Games launched the #FreeFortnite Cup tournament. Participants can get several rewards, including the Tart Tycoon skin. The skin was created solely to take a jab at Apple.

The character wears a business suit and has an apple for the head. Much like Apple's logo, the side of his head has a missing piece. Instead of a clean bite, the worm can be seen sticking out of the side of the head - representing a 'bad apple.'

This design choice has not been incorporated into the version of the skin in the game. A piece of the likely head missing would affect hitboxes and confuse players.

The recent news of Apple threatening to remove Twitter from the App Store could be the perfect time for another Tart Tycoon skin. However, as of now, leakers have not been able to find anything in the files.

Sweeney's comments did not indicate a timeline or guarantee the skin's drop. The conclusion of the Apple v Fortnite trial also means that a chapter has been closed on that story. At this point, Sweeney's comments are purely speculative.

Nevertheless, we know that Tart Tycoon 2.0 is natural and may become another free-to-get skin like Chrome Punk.
