Fortnite has just introduced its latest big collaboration, this time with one of horror's most iconic characters. The Evil Dead franchise, piloted by director Sam Raimi and actor Bruce Campbell for decades, is one of the biggest films in horror cinema and Ash Williams is its famous protagonist.
Ash from Evil Dead is getting a skin in the game and an NPC that stays in his Evil Dead-themed cabin, formerly known as Shroom Chalet. The character will talk to the players if they come up to him, much like any other NPC.
This is clearly for Fortnitemares, so it's not known if the Ash NPC will leave following the conclusion of the event or if he'll stick around. Either way, there's a fun Easter egg that Epic Games has included and gamers should try and uncover it before he potentially leaves the island.

Fortnite's Ash Williams NPC has an incredible Spider-Man Easter egg
According to iFireMonkey, the Ash Williams Fortnite NPC has a lot of different lines of dialog for certain characters.
They are as follows:
- Bytes- "What's got you down?"
- Lennox Rose- "Yeah, I don't watch a lot of television."
- Meow Skulls- "What kind of music do you listen to?"
- Gryzz- "Are you... a bear inside another bear?"
- The Herald- "You look like a flower."
- Ash Williams- "Oh boy, not you again..."
However, the most fun line comes when players wear the Spider-Gwen outfit from the Chapter 3 Season 4 battle pass.
If so, Williams will say:
"You remind me of a wrestler I once knew..."
As mentioned, Sam Raimi directed the Evil Dead movies, but comic book fans will also recognize him as the director of the original Spider-Man trilogy.
In all the movies that he directs, his friend Bruce Campbell, who plays Ash, either has a role or a cameo. In the first Spider-Man film, Peter Parker tries to earn some money wrestling and the announcer is played by Bruce Campbell.
Spider-Gwen is another version of Spider-Man, so Bruce Campbell's character recognizes the esthetics of the suit and remembers his old friend, Peter Parker, a.k.a The Amazing Spider-Man.
It's unclear what would happen if players donned the actual Spider-Man suit they could have earned from the Chapter 3 Season 1 battle pass or the Spider-Man: No Way Home (which sadly did not feature Campbell) skin from the battle pass.
Raimi and his Spider-Man movies are largely responsible for helping usher in the golden age of comic book media. Without those movies, of which Campbell was a part, many of the characters seen today would not be as popular.
Fortnite has a ton of comic book characters, so they can directly look at the Raimi Spider-Man trilogy as something that helped them get to where they are today.
As a result, they're paying a little bit of subtle homage to the movie while bringing in a totally different character. Fortnitemares is full of Easter eggs for the season, but this is one of the best they've ever done.
