Week 8 of Fortnite Chapter 4, Season 1 will go live at 9:00 am ET on January 24, 2023. A new set of challenges will be added to the game for players to complete and earn experience points.

Speaking of the same, this week, players will have to undertake a peculiar challenge to earn 16,000 XP. They will have to eliminate an opponent with no ranged weapons in their inventory while on foot. As weird as this may sound, the task is relatively straightforward.

A step-by-step on how to eliminate a player with no ranged weapons in your inventory while on foot in Fortnite.

With ranged weapons out of the question (and inventory) and with the challenge specifying players to be on their feet, this leaves the Shockwave Hammer as the only option. Completing the task will require a bit of skill and timing.

Players will have to try and eliminate one opponent using the Shockwave Hammer. To make this challenge easier, it's a good idea to play duos, trios, or squad matches. When an enemy teammate has been knocked down, they can be eliminated using a hammer.

This makes the entire process much more streamlined and palatable. Furthermore, this method can complete the challenge in a single match. Having said that, it's best to try and finish the task before the mid-game ends. To restate, here are the steps needed to complete this Fortnite challenge:

  • Start a duos match (play with a friend and employ proper communication)
  • Look for a Shockwave Hammer (Oathbound Chests are the best method)
  • Find an enemy team and isolate one of the opponents
  • Knock them down using conventional combat items/tools (do not eliminate them)
  • Once knocked down, empty out all other weapons from the inventory except the Shockwave Hammer
  • Switch to the Shockwave Hammer and eliminate them to complete the challenge

Where to find a Shockwave Hammer in Fortnite

The Shockwave Hammer is the latest in brute force intervention in Fortnite. Players can use it to smash opponents and send them flying or use the item's unique ability to hop about the map. That said, coming across this item is not always a breeze in-game.

Nevertheless, there are ways and means to find a Shockwave Hammer soon after landing in a match. The best place to look for one of these powerful melee items is in Oathbound Chests. They predominantly spawn in POIs and landmarks that are medieval-themed.

In addition to these lustrous chests, the Shockwave Hammer can also be found in ordinary/rare chests, Supply Drops, and even on rare occasions, such as floor loot. However, given their low spawn chances, Oathbound Chests will be the best option to find the item in Fortnite Chapter 4, Season 1.

Alternatively, players can also obtain the item by eliminating opponents that have it in their inventory. On that note, this method should only be used if players are already in mid-game and have failed to secure a Shockwave Hammer.

Note: It may be possible that "ranged weapons" may also refer to those fitted with scopes and not all ranged weapons. If such is true, this challenge may be completed with weapons such as shotguns and SMGs.
