Fortnite: How to open a Vault using a Vault Keycard

Vaults reappeared on the island towards the end of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1. This event signified the start of the Syndicate war and introduced the Cold Blooded faction to the game.

As part of the "This Season" Challenge for week four, players are required to open a Vault using a Vault Keycard. Although these Vaults are rather empty and rundown in the current season, opening them can yield a good amount of loot. In addition to loot, players will also be rewarded with 24,000 XP.

Step-by-step guide on how to open a Vault using a Vault Keycard in Fortnite

1) Obtain a Vault Key Card by defeating a Highcard Boss

The first step towards completing this challenge is to obtain a Vault Keycard. To do this, players will have to intercept and defeat a Highcard Boss. The NPC Boss spawns at three locations in every match: Brutal Bastion, Mega City, and Shattered Slabs.

Depending on the Battle Bus' route and other variable factors, players can land at any one of these locations and defeat a Highcard boss to obtain a Vault Keycard. As he spawns three minutes after the match starts, players have some time to prepare.

2) Equip the Vault Keycard and follow the colored beam to reach the Vault

After defeating the Highcard Boss, pick up the Vault Keycard. Make sure to keep an inventory slot open as the item has to be stored there. Once equipped, a colored beam will appear as a guide marker, indicating where the Vault is located.

In most cases, since the Highcard Boss spawns next to the Vault, locating it will not be an issue. Nevertheless, following the colored beam will make finding it a lot easier and quicker.

3) Interact with the Vault's terminal to open it

Once in front of the Vault, look for a terminal. It should be located on the left-hand side of the Vault door. Interact with it while having the Vault Keycard in the inventory to open it. Upon opening the Vault, the Challenge will be completed.

Yes, opening Vaults in the current season is most definitely worth the effort. Although the amount of loot and gold bars that can be obtained is limited, it will give players a competitive edge in the match.

That said, keep an eye out for Slurp Juice and Enhanced Havoc Shotguns that can be found within the Vault. The former is useful for rapid healing, while the latter is devastating in close-range combat. In addition to these two items, players will also be able to find Rare Chest, Ammo, and other healing items.
