The latest Fortnite leaks suggest that new weapon mods could be coming to the game soon. Weapon mods were introduced in Chapter 5 and have become a fan-favorite feature, allowing players to customize weapons according to playstyles. These mods allow players to personalize sights, magazines, muzzles, and more, with the possibility of hundreds of combinations throughout.

New weapon mods could be coming to Fortnite

According to the latest Fortnite leaks by @Blortzen—a legacy leaker and data miner known for leaks such as the arrival of Doctor Doom— new weapon mods seem to be in development:

This leak suggests a host of weapon mods are on their way to the game, with the latest one being an extended barrel mod. Extended Barrels essentially serve to boost a weapon's range as well as provide a significant increase to its velocity and accuracy.

An extended barrel also allows for the mounting of more muzzle devices, so the leak might be alluding to the arrival of muzzle mods like compensators and choke tubes, besides the Muzzle Brake and the Suppressor currently available. The extended barrel mod could be a major game-changer for a few weapons, including the new weapons in Chapter 5 Season 4.

The extended barrel mod works on a wide assortment of Rifles, Shotguns, Handguns, as well as SMGs. This season introduced many such weapons, adding new ones like the Sovereign Shotgun and the Monarch Pistol and unvaulting old faithful like the Striker Burst Rifle.

These weapons could receive Extended Barrel mods and given how the Striker Burst Rifle can be modded now further supports the possibility of new mods.

These rumored mods will not work on Mythic weapons as they cannot be modded at all. So, weapons like Mysterio's Sovereign Shotgun or Emma Frost's Mythic Striker Burst Rifle will not be moddable at any of the mod benches on the map.

The Fortnite leak suggests these mods could be released soon although Epic Games has not made any official announcement. Mods and new weapons are usually announced as part of a fresh update, so these upcoming mods could be announced before any of the scheduled updates in Chapter 5 Season 4.

The mods could arrive as part of an official update, with the next one, v31.10 supposedly scheduled for September 4 according to Fortnite leak and speculations.
