Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 began on March 10, 2023. Today (March 20, 2023), marks 10 days since this new phase of the storyline began. For most players, reaching level 50 or above is a highlight at the moment. However, for some, such as Steve, better known as Ship, there's more at stake than just leveling up.

On March 17, 2023, he took to Twitter to flaunt his skills by showcasing the number of Crowned Victory Royales he has secured in-game. Since this post was made seven days after the new season began, no one would expect him to have 200 of them to show for.

Nevertheless, given his track record, it's no surprise that Ship was able to obtain 200 Crowned Victory Royales in the span of seven days. It's left to be seen if he can stay on top of the competition until the season ends. In all probability, he will.

Why are Crowned Victory Royales important in Fortnite?

Ever since Victory Crown was added to the game in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1, players have strived to win matches while having the item. Apart from the obvious bragging rights that players gain by showcasing their Crowned Victory Royales, there is also a functional aspect to it.

Unknown to most Fortnite players, even to this day, Victory Crowns give them bonus experience points for completing certain tasks. Players will earn more XP than usual after eliminating opponents and surviving Storm Circles.

While this 'boost' isn't a lot, every bit counts when trying to level up and unlock cosmetics in the Battle Pass. Although there's no need to reach level 200 this early on, there's no harm in doing so, either.

As Victory Crowns carry over from one match to another (if the player manages to win), it's a matter of prestige as well. Losing a Victory Crown by being eliminated is somewhat of a personal setback. Enemies will now have the ability to claim it as their own and earn bonus XP during a Fortnite match.

Aside from losing the Victory Crown after being eliminated, players can drop it for others to pick up. Usually, this is not something that occurs in-game, as obtaining a Victory Crown in the first place is no easy task. Nevertheless, a few players often drop it for others to collect.

How to obtain a Victory Crown?

Aside from obtaining one through the fires of combat (picking it up from a fallen foe), they can be earned by achieving a Victory Royale. Players that manage to win a match will be granted a Victory Crown. They'll earn their first Crowned Victory Royale if they win the next match.

They will also unlock the Crowning Achievement Emote, allowing them to showcase or 'flex' the number of Crowned Victory Royales they have earned. These last until the end of the current phase of the storyline (Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2).

Remember that the total number of Crowned Victory Royales doesn't affect the XP 'boost.' Simply carrying the Victory Crown (without even winning a match) will provide bonus XP. That said, winning is always the better option.
