The Fortnite Champion Series, otherwise known as FNCS, is the ultimate test of skill in-game. Teams from around the world try their level best to come out on top and win a portion of the prize-money from the pool. Currently, the FNCS structure allows for teams to participate from all platforms, PC and Console included.

While this has been the case for a long time, Console players are now wanting a league of their own and are starting a petition. Given that playing on PC still has some advantages (for certain things) as compared to Consoles, this would level out the playing field and make things more fair. However, not everyone shares this outlook.

Fortnite FNCS for Console only sparks debate on social media

Posted on the Twitter account known as FortniteTracker, they want to start a petition to add a Console FNCS. Given that this would make every fight a fair one for those playing on Consoles, it makes a lot of sense, but not everyone sees things in the same light.

The first reply to the post shuts down the argument by stating that "nobody plays on Console." Given that the community and the professional scene have expert-level Console players, this would be incorrect. While Fortnite does run the best on high-end PCs, that's a whole other tangent. Here are a few more such comments:

Based on the comments, it's clear to see that the notion of having an exclusive FNCS for Console is not something that everyone looks forward to. However, a few players do support this mindset and think that it would be a good idea. Here's what they have to say:

So, if having FNCS for Console players is a 'decent' idea at best, why are some against the notion, while others are for it? Well, while having a Console-only FNCS would be entertaining, the prize pool may be less than satisfactory.

With Epic Games hosting open Fortnite Cash Cups throughout the year alongside a $10,000,000 Global Championship in-person event in late 2023, there's not enough funding to go around. Hypothetically, if a Console only FNCS is to be hosted, it will split the prize pool down the middle.

The entire point of playing multiple matches over the course of a few days to earn 'big' money would be moot. Players will end up winning miniscule amounts for their effort, which is only 'if' they manage to secure a good position during the tournament.

Those who are lower on the leaderboard might be walking away with nothing in-hand. This, again, would make the entire point of Console FNCS null and void. If anything, it could spark more backlash and create dismay for Console players.

What does Epic Games have to say about this?

Since this is a petition being raised by the Fortnite community, Epic Games is yet to add their 'two bits' to the situation. More than likely, an official reply in any capacity will not be given. Considering that a major Global Championship in-person event is scheduled for late 2023, they have their hands full at the moment.

There's no telling when or even if this petition will be taken into consideration. As mentioned, with so many open Cash Cups and the FNCS itself being open to all, at the moment, Console FNCS makes no sense. For the time being, Console players in favor of this petition will have to make do with what's available.
