Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 has brought about a lot of new changes, including new loot. This is true for every season, but it's especially true for a new chapter. This chapter saw a bunch of new weapons added, resulting in most of the loot pool being entirely new.
Epic Games will also add more weapons as the season goes on. They recently re-introduced the Heavy Shotgun back to the game after a prolonged absence. This week, they've added an entirely new item: the Guardian Shield.
This is both useful and required. For one of this week's challenges, players must have a Guardian Shield. Here's where to find one and how to use it.

Fortnite Guardian Shield: Where to find and how to use
Step 1: Load up a Battle Royale match of Fortnite
The first step is to load up Fortnite on the device you play it. It doesn't matter if that's an Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Android, or PC. Once the game opens up, begin a Battle Royale match as they can be found in this mode. This can be Solo, Duos, Trios, or Squads because it doesn't require teammates.
Step 2: Find an Oathbound Chest
There are two main ways to find loot: find it in its spawn locations or pick it up from an eliminated enemy. Since there's no way to guarantee an elimination, or of the fact that they'll even have a Guardian Shield, it's best to go with the former.
Guardian Shields come from Oathbound Chests, so you will have to find one of those. Since there is no assurance that it'll drop the first time, you may need to rummage through numerous chests. Fortunately, places on the map like the Citadel have multiple chests.
Step 3: Carry the shield in inventory
The shield has a limited time of use, so it's imperative to not use it unless absolutely necessary. It begins running out as soon as it is used, so it is advisable not to do that until you are absolutely ready.
Step 4: Hold or throw the shield
Once ready, there are two ways to use it as a personal protector by holding down the fire button while holding it in your hand. This will allow you to move with it, so it's arguably a better way to use it. It makes it flexible, too.
However, if you need to heal or more, then throwing it down is an excellent way to use it, too. This can be done the same way you throw a shield or healing item to another player. Once it's down, it will provide protection for the duration.
If necessary, you can go to the center of the Fortnite Guardian Shield and pick it back up.
