Kinetic Ore is the newest way to fast-travel in Fortnite. Although the lore behind this mysterious element is yet to be revealed, its kinetic abilities resemble Vibranium from Reality: 616. Players standing on the ore will receive low gravity effects when it launches into the air.
Taking advantage of this cool feature, Epic Games wants players to travel a certain distance using Kinetic Ore. After completing the challenge, a total of 80,000 XP or one level will be earned by the player. Although the challenge is not too difficult, it will take some time to complete.
A step-by-step guide on how to travel distance using Kinetic ore in Fortnite
1) Land in Shattered Slabs and secure the area
Master the game with our Fortnite Interactive Map v33.00 here!
The first step to completing this challenge is to land in Shattered Slabs. Given that it is ranked the sixth most sweaty location in Chapter 4 Season 1, players can expect to find a lot of competition in the area. Furthermore, since this POI will be ground zero for this challenge, the number of opponents will increase significantly.
Nevertheless, a good way to secure the POI is to land on the edge and work inward, picking off one target at a time. Given the layout of the area, finding natural cover and highground will be a breeze. Use the terrain to gain an advantage in combat.
2) Look for Kinetic Ore that's on the ground
Once the area is secured, the next step is to look for Kinetic Ore. It's not difficult to spot as it's purple in color and rather large in size. Furthermore, with the highest concentrations of Kinetic Ore (17) on the island located at Shattered Slabs, it will be next to impossible to not find a few of them
They can be found in and around the POI, both on the ground and suspended in the air by a crane. Some can even be found on the outer edges of the POI. Additionally, one lone piece of Kinetic Ore can be found at a landmark called Rocky Docks. It is located far west of Shattered Slabs.
3) Hit the Kinetic Ore and aim its trajectory in the desired direction
Once ready, approach the Kinetic Ore and hit it with a Harvesting Tool. After hitting it a few times, it will grow unstable and be charged up. By now, the trajectory line should appear on the screen. Depending on the angle at which players are hitting it, the Kinetic Ore will travel in its respective direction.
For example, if players are hitting the Kinetic Ore from the West, it will travel towards the East. Likewise, if they are hitting it at the bottom, it will travel in an upward arc. Lastly, while bullets and arrows can be used to initiate the charge sequence, using them in the process will be wasteful.
4) Stand on top of the Kinetic Ore to travel the distance
Once the Kinetic Ore is charged up and ready to go, players should stop hitting it and stand on top of it as soon as possible. Remember not to stand on the edges as there's a possibility that players will slide off due to the existence of physics in Fortnite.
The challenge in question requires players to travel a total distance of 1,900 meters over the course of five stages. They increase incrementally: 50, 100, 250, 500, and 1,000 meters. Completing each stage will yield 16,000 experience points.
