Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 is officially underway and has introduced the community to numerous new features and items that have changed the playstyle once again. Developer Epic Games likes to rotate weapons and items every season and this time around, it's a whole new chapter that was changed.
Alongside the new island and the weapons, several new additions to the game's features and UI have been made that the community may need to take some time to get familiar with. Amongst those, a new feature was introduced that establishes the class system from classic FPS games into Fortnite for the first time.
The feature is called Augments or "Perks" as loopers like to call them. These are combat-oriented bonuses or buffs temporarily awarded to loopers, who survive different storm phases, in a Battle Royale match.
Master the game with our Fortnite Interactive Map v33.00 here!
Using them can add several perks across the weapons, movement, and health regeneration systems for the player in a match and give them an immense gameplay advantage.
Players will first get Augment Tutorial Quests to introduce them to the new feature in Fortnite. Here's how you can use them.
How to use Augments in Fortnite Chapter 4 (Full list & guide)
Augments are awarded to loopers who survive storm phases and avoid elimination in a Battle Royale match. Since these are temporary, a specific one cannot be used in another game as it applies to the same match the player redeems it in.
Once a player survives a particular storm phase, these get automatically activated in their loadout, which also happens at the same time for all gamers across the map.
To activate an Augment in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1, follow these steps:
- Press the default assigned numeric key "7" and the Augments sidebar will open up.
- There, you will be able to see two Augments at a time to choose from. If you do not want both of them and would instead like to choose another, you can reroll by pressing E. This will swap the current selection and give you two new ones to choose from.
It is important to note that the first Augments reroll in a match is free of cost, which means once you avail it, you will need to pay 100 gold bars to reroll them every consecutive time. There are total four slots by default, which is why you need to carefully consider your choices as they will define your gameplay style for that particular Fortnite match.
If you are playing with friends, it is advisable to choose Augments that offer different perks to each squadmate and create different classes for everyone to benefit by it. However, if someone does not activate a single Augment in a Fortnite match, it will be stacked in the sidebar and they can activate all of them at once at any time during the match.
How many Augments are there in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1?
There are a total of 22 Augments in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 that players can get at random during the match, but can apply only four of those in one single Battle Royale game. However, they will be able to see all of them in the lobby menu where the quests can be seen.
