Players can easily play Fortnite splitscreen on PlayStation and Xbox. All they need are Fortnite accounts and two connected controllers:

  1. Start Fortnite and go to the lobby.
  2. Select the second player's console account on the prompt that appears after connecting the second controller.
  3. On the bottom right of the screen, a prompt will pop up advising to hold down the respective action button (Triangle for PlayStation, A for Xbox), which will allow the second player to log in and appear in the lobby.
  4. Splitscreen mode will be enabled when a match is started.

This method allows players with two controllers to jump into a match together and enjoy the latest season of Fortnite, with all new items and consumables.

Note that when splitscreen is turned on, only duos and squads can be played, disabling all other modes until the second controller is disconnected.

Additionally, splitscreen is not available in creative and Limited Time Modes as well as Fortnite Save the World, Ranked, and Solos.

It is important to note that splitscreen only works in-game. The lobby or any of the submenus cannot be shared. Additionally, they cannot share inventory using split-screen mode. Both players must have the same language settings for this feature to work on PlayStation and Xbox.

While these are the basics to be noted to play splitscreen, the most important thing that you need to know before diving into this mode is that the screen will be divided. Now, it will be separated horizontally by default, which can also be made vertically depending on what works for you better.
