How to repair malfunctioning electronics by damaging them in Fortnite Chapter 4

The latest Fortnite update dropped on January 18, and with v23.20 came a new set of weekly and storyline quests for players to complete. Loopers have been waiting for these challenges since Winterfest 2022 concluded and now that they are here, they can't wait to gain some extra XP that will be rewarded upon completion.

Additionally, the update also brought back Deku's Smash Mythic, a new Flacon Scout item, and five fresh Augments for players to use during a Battle Royale match in Fortnite Chapter 4. While the items might add excitement to the game, the new set of quests will surely motivate the player-base to put in more hours.

As exciting as the weekly challenges might be, the Oathbound Quests progress the storyline so that players can speculate using the voice lines the characters say during the progression.

This time around, Part 2 of the newly released questline has introduced players to Rift Warden Stellan. The character takes the help of loopers to install a Rift Gate to open a bridge across realities on demand by The Ageless Champion.

As players progress by completing the first and second stages of the quests, Stage 3 requires them to fix the malfunctioning electronics required to make the gate by damaging them. Here's how they can complete the quest in Fortnite Chapter 4.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 Oathbound Quest Part 2 Stage 3 guide: Repair malfunctioning electronics

The second part of Oathbound Quests was released with yesterday's update and will progress the medieval storyline of Fortnite Chapter 4. Rift Warden Stellan requires loopers to help him with the task of building the Rift Gate around the island.

Once you are done with the first two stages of Oathbound Quests, the third one requires you to repair malfunctioning electronics by damaging them. To complete the quest, follow these steps:

1) Use Oathbound Quests Tab to find the malfunctioning electronics

Before you begin the quest, head to the Oathbound Quests tab in the Fortnite menu to see the Mmalfunctioning electronics located between the Citadel and Breakwater Bay. They are the same construction materials that players interacted with in the previous stage of the questline.

It is advisable that you complete Stage 3 of the Oathbound Quests in quick succession as soon as you are done with the Stage 2 quests.

2) Damage the wires of malfunctioning electronics with your pickaxe

Next, you need to go closer to the faulty wire that emits a spark near the malfunctioning equipment and simply hit it with your pickaxe. Once you do that, the wire will automatically be fixed and you will have the said electronic equipment repaired.

Overall, there are three electronics that you would need to repair in a similar manner that are right next to each other in the same area on the Fortnite island.

3) Repair the other two malfunctioning electronics and progress to the next stage

Once you have repaired any one of the malfunctioning electronics, repair the other two by hitting the faulty wires with your pickaxe to complete the quest.

To check whether the fault has been fixed, walk closely to the equipment and see if there is still any spark emitting from either of them. If not, your mission is complete and Stellan will instruct you with the final stages of the Fortnite questline.

Oathbound Quests are quite extensive and require players to perform unusual actions other than what is needed in the normal Battle Royale gameplay.

However, they offer a reward of 20,000 XP after each stage is successfully completed. This can help players progress quickly along the Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 Battle Pass and claim the mid-season drops easily.
