According to the latest Fortnite leaks, football legend Lionel Messi who is worth $1.15 billion will be coming to Metaverse soon. While the details regarding this alleged collaboration were first shared by veteran leaker @HYPEX, others such as @iFireMonkey and @ShiinaBR soon reaffirmed this information. Given their track record as reliable leakers, this is all but a confirmation.

To support this claim, a string called "Lionel Messi" and "Streetwear Spark Messi" were spotted in the files during the Fortnite downtime today (December 10, 2024). Considering how Epic Games names certain strings as plainly as possible when it's related to collaborations, this is proof that Messi is indeed coming to the game soon.

What to expect from the Lionel Messi x Fortnite collaboration?

Lionel Messi will be getting his own Icon Series Outfit in-game. However, it is hard to say if it will be related to his club or if Epic Games will create an original Style for his appearance in the Metaverse. Aside from the Outfit, a Pickaxe, Glider, Back Bling, and maybe even a unique pair of Kicks could be introduced.

As for Lionel Messi's role in the storyline, there is no connection between him and Japan. It would be cool to have him play a role, but that's likely out of the picture. If he is at all integrated into the storyline, it will be a small cinematic trailer showcasing him being introduced to Chapter 6 Season 1. This was done for other athletes as well.

At the moment, there is no timeline in place. The only information we have on hand is that a collaboration is in the works and that it is real. Aside from this, there is nothing else to go on for the time being. Leakers/data miners could provide an update in a few hours/days to showcase exactly what the collaboration will entail.

Until then, it can be said with near certainty that the GOAT will soon be immortalized in the Metaverse.
