The Apple vs. Fortnite Cold War is still ongoing as the tech giant keeps the mobile game away from its App Store. Even after a courtroom trial, things aren't clear for players eagerly waiting to play their favorite game on their iOS devices. Fortunately, it seems like the world's richest man has also joined Epic's battle against Apple.
Elon Musk recently called out Apple for doing away with advertisements on his newly acquired social media platform Twitter. What followed was a chain reaction from users highlighting the tech giant's monopolistic practices. One of the users also shared the #FreeFortnite 1984 campaign video, to which Elon responded.
According to the Tesla CEO, Epic Games' representation of Apple's practices was "Accurate". He also criticized the tech giants for charging a commission rate as high as 30% for in-app purchases through the App Store. Elon joining the Loopers in their fight against Apple comes as a positive sign for sure.

Elon Musk joins the Fortnite vs. Apple battle
For the uninitiated, Apple removed Fortnite Mobile from its App Store on iOS devices in 2020. This was the result of an anti-trust issue between the two parties after Epic Games tried to avoid Apple's in-app purchases and the 30% commission. Ever since then, the issue has turned into a dramatic tussle that reached the courtroom as well.
Throughout the courtroom battle, Epic Games launched several social media campaigns as countless players joined in to support their favorite game against Apple's monopolistic practices. Unfortunately, the verdict was inconclusive, as it left the return of the Battle Royale game hanging for the foreseeable future. Players had given up all hope until now when Elon Musk has gone on the offensive against Apple.
As Elon Musk questions Apple's monopolistic practices and its apparent hate for free speech in America, the tech giant has supposedly threatened to remove Twitter from its platform. It seems like if the world's richest man continues to criticize Apple just like Epic Games did, Twitter might suffer the same fate as Fortnite Mobile on iOS devices.
Can you still play Fortnite Mobile on iPhone?
Ever since Apple banned Epic's Battle Royale from its devices, it hasn't been available on the App Store. Those who had the game on their devices can continue playing it. However, new players cannot download the game on their iPhones. Thankfully, with the help of cloud gaming platforms like Nvidia GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud, players can continue playing the game on their iOS devices.
Clearly, the experience will not be like the original game and will be available only for one hour per day if players opt for a free plan. However, if one is willing to pay, one can play the game for longer durations with superior graphics.
Hopefully, Elon Musk joining the battle against Apple might change a few things. As more and more apps stand against the tech giant's monopolistic practices, it might be forced to reconsider and bring some changes to its platform, one of them being the return of Fortnite Mobile on iOS devices.
