Recently, Epic Games filed a lawsuit against Google’s anticompetitive Google Play Store practices to allow consumers to sideload third-party applications without being intimidated by scare screens. This will essentially allow them to install applications from outside the Play Store.

Today, in a post on social media platform X, the Epic Games Newsroom announced a new partnership with Telefónica, a large Spanish multinational telecommunications company where upcoming Android devices in Spain, the UK, Germany, Mexico, and Spanish-speaking Latam will have the Epic Games Store preinstalled.

According to Epic Games, this will allow players to bypass Google's "misleading scare screens" and access games like Fortnite faster. The news was accompanied by the following caption, which took a subtle dig at Google's policy on sideloading:

"The Epic Games Store will now be preinstalled on Telefónica Android devices in Spain, UK, Germany, Mexico and Spanish-speaking Latam. This will enable players to bypass many of Google’s misleading scare screens and get to playing Fortnite faster. We’re looking to partner with other carriers as we continue to fight to open up the mobile ecosystem to competition."

As per the post, players can look forward to the Epic Games store being installed in other carriers as well while they continue their "fight to open up the mobile ecosystem to competition."

This news comes after Fortnite arrived on iOS devices in the EU region after Epic Games' lengthy battle with tech giant Apple to open the app store and allow sideloading third-party applications. The developers have stated that other regions will also follow suit in the near future.
