In a groundbreaking development, Epic Games has revealed it is making changes to Fortnite Battle Passes and their exclusivity. As highlighted in a recent blog post shared by the developers, skins and other cosmetics featured in future Fortnite Battle Passes will have a chance at being available for purchase in the Item Shop after 18 months.

This massive change is sure to please players across the community, as the exclusivity of cosmetics in Fortnite Battle Passes has long been a point of contention. Players have expressed how the exclusivity majorly hinders skin collectors and fans, given how they are disabled from acquiring Battle Pass skins after the season has ended.

How will the exclusivity work for the Fortnite Battle Passes moving forward?

As mentioned, skins and other cosmetics featured in a Battle Pass will have a chance of being made available in the Fortnite Item Shop at least 18 months after that particular Battle Pass expires. However, this doesn't mean the cosmetics have a 100% chance of returning. Rather, the items will no longer be held back by the exclusivity the Battle Pass usually features.

The developers also focused on selectable styles for skins featured in the Battle Pass. They emphasized how the number of alternate styles for a skin will vary across releases. However, the Battle Pass skins will always come packaged with a LEGO Fortnite style and a Fall Guys style, provided they are in the game.

It is important to note that this change in exclusivity doesn't apply to previously featured Fortnite Battle Passes and the skins featured in those Passes will continue to stay exclusive in Fortnite. However, Epic Games is seemingly working to tackle that exclusivity in certain ways too, as highlighted by the release of the Deadpool & Wolverine (Pen & Ink) skins.

In the blog post regarding the change in exclusivity, Epic Games emphasized how one of the primary reasons behind this change is to allow players to access Outfits based on beloved characters. With such a highly requested change finally being implemented, players can rest assured that their favorite skins and characters will not be locked behind Fortnite Battle Passes moving forward.
