The Fortnite downtime today (December 1, 2024) begins at 10 PM ET. Matchmaking will be disabled at 9:30 ET, and the servers will be brought online again at 6:00 AM ET. Update v33.00 will be the first downtime for the new phase of the storyline. It will see the game transition from Chapter 2 Remix (Chapter 5) to Chapter 6 Season 1.
With stats being reset, there is not much to do in-game now. If you missed the final showtime of Fortnite Remix: The Finale live event, you can still watch it on social media. Any rewards unclaimed from the Remix Battle Pass will be granted to you once the servers are up and running again, provided you have Battle Stars.

The Fortnite downtime today (December 1, 2024) will last approximately eight hours, from 10 PM ET to 6 AM ET. Since this period will be used to transition from one major phase of the storyline to the next, there could be a delay during the downtime due to technical problems. If this happens, the period could be extended.
That said, Epic Games provides social media updates regarding any changes to the downtime and when the servers will be live again.
Content changes for Fortnite update v33.00
Since this is the start of Chapter 6 Season 1, an entirely new phase of the storyline, there will be content changes for every part of the game. We'll see a new map, Battle Pass, loot pool, characters, mechanics, and even collaborations such as Godzilla and Baymax.
