The Fortnite downtime today (June 13, 2024) will begin shortly. This will be the first major downtime for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3. Based on information provided by Epic Games, this update will usher in Fortnite Festival Season 4 (featuring Metallica) and new items/weapons in Battle Royale. LEGO Fortnite is also getting a minor update, but nothing related to new content per se.

Here's is what Epic Games had to say in a recent X post on the @FortniteStatus account:

"We’re off to never-never land!"

Epic Games will be taking the servers offline at 3:30 am Eastern Time. The Fortnite downtime today (June 13, 2024) will begin 30 minutes later at 4 am Eastern Time. You should try and wrap up your session by 3 am Eastern Time to stay on the safe side and avoid the risk of losing out on progress.

Furthermore, with the season just getting underway, there is no need to stay in-game until the last moment to farm XP. There will be plenty of time to do that once the Fortnite downtime today (June 13, 2024) ends.

Nevertheless, if you still feel the need to earn XP, you could go into Creative. If you are booted mid-game when the servers are taken offline, there will be no loss of progression or XP.

How long could the Fortnite downtime today (June 13, 2024) last?

Since this is the first update of Chapter 5 Season 3, the Fortnite downtime today (June 13, 2024) could last a couple of hours. The servers will likely be up within three to four hours. Things should wrap up by 8 am Eastern Time.

However, keep in mind that some room should be given for technical hiccups. If they occur, the time needed for the servers to come back online could be extended. Epic Games will provide an update via its blog once things are done within an official capacity.

Content changes for Fortnite update v30.10

In terms of new content, the spotlight is on Fortnite Festival Season 4 featuring Metallica. The collaboration has been long awaited ever since the Fortnite 2024 Roadmap leaked a few months ago. James, Lars, Kirk, and Robert will become part of the Metaverse.

A new Fortnite Festival PvP mode called Battle Stage is also being introduced. Players will be able to go head-to-head with each other and aim to come out on top. No actual combat will be involved. It will be more like the battle of the bands.

LEGO Fortnite is getting two new modes as well: Cozy and Expert. Players will be able to further relax and explore new LEGO Fortnite seeds or take on an unrelenting and unforgiving world.

There will also be some new content for Battle Royale, but it will be very limited in nature. EMP Grenades will be making a comeback, alongside a new mythic weapon called Ride The Lightning. It takes inspiration from Metallica and will be usable in-game. As its name suggests, you will be able to shoot lightning bolts once the Fortnite downtime today (June 13, 2024) ends.
