Fortnite iOS will return to Japan in 2025, as per the information shared by Epic Games a few moments ago. While there is no timeline yet in place, a rudimentary timeline of sorts has been established. The developers have stated that it will return to Japan in late 2025, presumably sometime towards the end phase of Chapter 6. This is what the developers had to say on the social media platform X:
"A big win for mobile gamers and developers: the Japanese government and the Diet have passed a new law to open up mobile app stores! The Epic Games Store & Fortnite will be coming to iOS in Japan in late 2025."
When the ban was first put into place in 2020, over 70 million across the globe users were locked out of the game on iOS devices. Although the total number of Japanese players is unknown, it could be estimated that a few thousand, if not millions, were part of this playerbase.

Fortnite iOS could go global in the coming years by the looks of it
The developers have gained ground in both the EU and the UK as well. This is yet another massive step towards reinstating the game on iOS devices on a global scale. Throughout 2024, many other countries could potentially be added to this growing list.
While development for the Epic Games Store and the game itself will take time, players are excited about it. After having lost access to the game for over four years, seeing it make a comeback to iOS devices is a rather huge deal. Unfortunately, there is no update about the game being playable on iOS devices in the USA, and by the looks of things, it is unlikely to change anytime soon.
Can you sign up for Fortnite iOS?
While development is underway, you cannot sign up for Fortnite iOS just yet. Given that the Epic Games Store for iOS devices is still being worked on, a beta-testing phase is yet to begin. With the EU reportedly getting access to the app sometime in Q3 or Q4 of 2024, Epic Games should announce in the next few months.
