Fortnite Kicks announced as the newest type of in-game cosmetic

Epic Games has officially announced Fortnite Kicks for Chapter 2 Remix. They will be the newest type of in-game cosmetic that you will be able to use with other Outfits that you own. They will fit snugly on your character's foot and allow you to customize their footwear as you see fit.

Here's what Epic Games had to say in the announcement:

"The Island isn’t the only thing to be remixed and reimagined. We’re bringing self-expression to a whole new level with the introduction of Kicks."

As per the official information, Kicks will be part of the Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix Battle Pass. They will also be featured in the Item Shop from November 12, 2024 onward.

Since Fortnite Kicks will be the newest kid on the block in terms of cosmetics, Epic Games is taking things slow. The initial lineup of Kicks will only feature Nike and Jordan, alongside a few originally designed and created by Epic Games. This is likely being done for two major reasons.

Firstly, Epic Games likely does not want to saturate the Item Shop with too many Kicks on launch day. Thus, limiting the cosmetic type to just a few to get feedback from the community will be vital for plans.

Secondly, since Kicks will only be usable with 500 Outfits as of now, not every Outfit will be compatible with this new type of cosmetic. Thus, keeping the offering limited is probably for the best.

That said, Epic Games has confirmed that by the Spring of 2025, more than 95% of Outfits will be compatible with Fortnite Kicks:

"Kicks will be compatible with over 500 of the most popular Fortnite Outfits to start, with more than 95% of Outfits compatible by Spring of next year. While there are a few Outfits that are particularly challenging to style Kicks for, we’re working hard to make sure that as many Outfits as possible can throw on a fresh pair."

If you plan on purchasing the Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix Battle Pass, you will get your very first pair of Kicks on November 12, 2024, with the update v32.10. Information regarding the same should be disclosed when the Fortnite downtime today (November 2, 2024) ends.
