The latest Fortnite leak seemingly suggests that Epic Games is working on a new type of cosmetic related to footwear. They are being referred to as "Shoe Cosmetics" by leakers/data miners for the time being. The information was brought to light by SpushFNBR and ESFortniteBR, who are well-known within the community as trusted sources of information.
As per the information at hand, it would seem that these "Shoe Cosmetics" will seemingly work with a lot of Oufits (Skins), that are already in circulation. However, there are bound to be limitations for certain Outfits, especially those that are not created by Epic Games, but rather licensed from other franchises for the Metaverse. This is also a major reason why not every Outfit has a LEGO Style yet.

Provided that "Shoe Cosmetics" will be cosmetics, it would make sense for veteran leaker/data miner HYPEX to state that they will likely be sold in the Fortnite Item Shop. This is similar to what is done with cosmetics of all types. As such, the pattern will follow.
They could be sold in Bundles alongside other cosmetics such as Outfits, Gliders, Back Blings, and Pickaxes, or separately as is also the norm. This will largely depend on what Epic Games has planned, but one thing is for certain: the scope of collaborations with apparel brands has just expanded exponentially.
While there have been collaborations with Adidas and Nike, they haven't been able to incorporate shoes into the game. That will all change when "Shoe Cosmetics" are added. Aside from collaborations, Epic Games is also bound to add their own "Shoe Cosmetics" as well.
The possibilities are endless, which is especially true for themed Shoes that could be developed for different Series such as Icon, Dark, Slurp, etc. Speaking of possibility, the upcoming "Shoe Cosmetics" may be why rumors of Epic Games expanding Fortnite's cosmetic team have been in circulation.
All said and done, if the leaks come to fruition, players will have a whole new type of in-game cosmetic to look forward to. Truly, this shouldn't come as a massive surprise as new cosmetic types such as Guitars, Car Bundles, and even LEGO Sets were added at the end of 2023 when Chapter 5 kicked off with The Big Bang. So, by the looks of things, history is about to repeat itself, quite possibly at the start of Chapter 6.
