According to the latest Fortnite leaks, Smart Building is going to be implemented in the game soon. Although this feature is reportedly still in development, we have our first look at it thanks to leaker/data miner @osirion_gg. They uploaded a video to X, showcasing how it would work once introduced in-game.

The post was further shared by @Loolo_WRLD and @ShiinaBR, who needs no introduction to the Fortnite community. That said, the former stated that since this feature is still in development, some aspects of it are subject to change.

Here is what you could expect to see when Smart Building is added to the game eventually.

In the video shared online, we can see that the Smart Building feature slowly builds structures for the player as they move. Of course, it is not known if this will be automated, and the player would likely have to manually select the piece to place. However, the need to edit would be reduced to a large extent.

This means that players in Battle Royale should be able to focus more on fighting than building. The older, more complex version of building, which was added during the OG days, will still likely be in play. This would allow veterans to use their knowledge of building to the fullest. It will be interesting to see if and how Smart Building will shake up the meta for newer and seasoned players.

Keep in mind that based on the information at hand, Smart Building is still in development and a lot could change. While the functional aspect of this feature will remain true to design, how players will be able to use it in-game is subject to change.

As with any new addition, Epic Games will run it through the gauntlet to get community feedback and tweak it.

When could Smart Building arrive in Fortnite?

As of now, there is no fixed timeline in place. The only thing that can be said with some certainty is that Smart Building will arrive sometime in Fortnite Chapter 6. This is due to the fact there is tangible evidence of the feature already being useable.

However, keep in mind that first-person mode in Fortnite was also briefly useable via a glitch back in 2023 but was only officially added to the game in late 2024.

Likewise, Smart Building could arrive in Chapter 7 if development is delayed or if Epic Games wants to perfect the feature before introducing it. Either way, with the Simple Edit feature just recently being added, players have something new to perfect and master when it comes to building.
