A new glitch has surfaced in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. With it, players can effectively get an automatic kill that their enemy can do nothing about. It has resulted in the removal of the item that was used for it and bans for those who employ the glitch. Rarely does Epic Games step in with such force, but the glitch provided an unbelievable advantage.
Bugs are usually fine to use within reason, but this one is different. Here's what the glitch required you to do, how it worked, and what happens if you get banned.
Fortnite glitch is forcing Epic to ban players
The glitch in question was found and relayed by Tabor Hill. It involves the Kinetic Blade, a unique Chapter 4 melee weapon that allowed for a lot of damage and mobility.

In this particular bug, players could use the Kinetic Blade to kill their opponents without being them being able to prevent it. In the game, players would drop dead without any rhyme or reason.
To do this, players had to be out in the open. If they were, players could disconnect their WiFi (a much simpler and easier process on a PC. It's unclear how this would work on a console) and dash towards their enemy with the blade's ability.
When they got to them, they could use the attack button repeatedly until they felt like 200 or more damage was dealt to ensure a death. After reconnecting to the internet, the Fortnite gamer would be transported back to the location and granted elimination. The enemy would drop dead and have no clue what had happened to them.
This has forced Epic Games to do two things. First, they have disabled the Kinetic Blade in tournament playlists. The use of this glitch is far too powerful to be left alone in Fortnite competitive play, so it's gone for now.
Additionally, anyone who has used this glitch is subject to a ban. Most are minor bans, such as a 24-hour break, but they could be serious. The cause of the ban is cited as exploitation, which is exactly what the glitch users are doing.
