Fortnite players are expected to start getting massive refunds from Epic Games. Millions of players are eligible and will receive either V-Bucks or its equivalent in cash.
In December 2022, the FTC ordered Epic to pay $245 million in refunds to players. The order was finalized last week, which is why the video game publisher will start granting refunds soon.

The settlement money will be used to refund players in the United States affected by Epic Games' billing and refund practices. It is currently unknown how many players are eligible for the refund; however, considering the game's popularity over the past few years, this number is probably at least 100 million.
According to the FTC, these players are eligible for a refund:
- Parents whose children made an unauthorized credit card purchase in the Epic Games Store between January 2017 and November 2018.
- Fortnite players who were charged currency (V-Bucks) for unwanted in-game items (such as cosmetics, llamas, or battle passes) between January 2017 and September 2022.
- Fortnite players whose accounts were locked between January 2017 and September 2022 after disputing unauthorized charges with their credit card companies.
Epic Games has changed the Item Shop and released several features to simplify refunds; however, the video game publisher was supposed to have these features in the game a long time ago, which is why it was fined.
The FTC will post important updates regarding the refunds on its official website, and players can follow them on this link.
Besides the $245 million refund, Epic Games must also pay $275 million in fines and penalties, but this will not be given back to players.
