When does the new season Start?
Based on the official information that has been provided by Epic Games and as mentioned on the Seasonal Battle Pass, the new season will start on August 25, 2023. While this date has been confirmed, things are subject to change based on Epic Games' discretion. The developers can postpone or prepone the new season if required.
However, for the most part, the date mentioned on the Battle Pass usually comes to fruition. That being said, for those who own the Battle Pass, it's always a good idea to try and unlock all rewards as soon as possible to avoid missing out on them.
How do Fortnite seasons work?
Fortnite Seasons are based on themes and breaks in the storyline. Each phase of the storyline is told over the course of a season. Based on the story that's being told, the theme and Battle Pass are created accordingly. Characters that are present in a Fortnite Season are also often tailor-made to the prevalent theme and storyline phase.
During major updates that occur throughout the Season, elements are added/removed from the game to make things more streamlined. At times, mini-events can also occur over the course of a Fortnite Season. This again all depends on what the developers have planned and are able to execute.
What happens in Seasonal updates in Fortnite?
Seasonal updates are those that occur at the end of every season. Unlike the major updates that take place every two weeks or so, these happen at the end of the seasonal phase. On average, with each season lasting three months, these updates occur at the end of the stipulated timeline.
Depending on how Epic Games executes the Seasonal update, the downtime for the new season can extend up to a day or more in some extreme situations. However, this has become rare and usually only occurs when there is a live event.
