According to the recent blog post for Fortnite Festival Season 7, a much-awaited feature will be enabled once the update v33.20 goes live. Epic Games has confirmed that you will be able to use Guitars, Basses, Keytars, Mics, and drumsticks from Drums as Pickaxes and/or Back Blings. This is what they had to say:

"Starting with v33.20, you can equip some purchased or earned Guitars, Basses, Keytars, Mics — and the drumsticks from some of your Drums — as a Pickaxe or Back Bling. Check your Locker to see which of your Instruments can be equipped in new ways!"

As of now, no official list has been shared by Epic Games. There is no way of knowing which Instruments will be compatible. Much like Outfits slowly becoming compatible with Kicks, the developers, over time, will increase the number of Instruments that can be used as Pickaxes and/or Back Blings respectively.

Fortnite Festival Season 7 will give more reasons for players to purchase the Music Pass

The Music Pass has been part of the game since December 23, 2023. Thus far, we've had six amazing Festival Seasons, each having its unique offerings and collaborations. For the most part, Jam Tracks were the highlight of this pass, but the cosmetics were also a huge factor.

The only problem was that apart from Outfits, the other cosmetics were all but useless in Battle Royale/Zero Build. However, that's all about to change with the advent of the update v33.20.

Once the downtime ends, players will be able to use certain Instruments as Pickaxes and Back Blings. This will not only expand their collection of useable cosmetics in Battle Royale/Zero Build but also provide more incentive to purchase the Music Pass.

With Fortnite Crew now providing all in-game passes at no extra cost, this will perhaps encourage more players to consider subscribing; which again, is a win-win situation for Epic Games. If rumors hold, next on the list will be Auras.

They could become useable in Battle Royale/Zero Build soon. When (and if) this occurs, Epic Games will provide an official update regarding the same. Until then, there's the new Local Multiplayer feature to try out with friends. It will allow up to four players to play Festival in split-screen (Xbox and PlayStation) from one physical location.
