According to the latest Fortnite leak, it would seem that a new mecha could be in the works. The information was brought to light by leaker/data-miner @Loolo_WRLD and shared on social media platform X. The individual in question has been digging up information regarding the current and upcoming season (Chapter 6 Season 2) for a while now.
Coming to the leak in question, based on the details in the files, Epic Games is working on some sort of new ability. This ability, in question, will affect the passengers in a vehicle.
Based on past experiences, @Loolo_WRLD suggests that this is likely related to a new mecha/two-player mech that is being worked on. Here is more on the topic at hand and what we could expect to see in the future.

Fortnite leak heralds the coming of a new mecha
As of this writing, two kinds of mecha/mech have been featured in-game. The OG B.R.U.T.E. and the Salvaged B.R.U.T.E. In both of those mechs, one player controlled its movements, while the other focused on the weapon system. This allowed players to split up tasks and pilot the mech together while assuming individual roles. In short, it made things less boring for both parties involved.
Based on the information at hand, if the upcoming ability is indeed tied to a mech, we could be seeing a new B.R.U.T.E. variant sometime shortly. There's no tangible timeline in place for this mechanical beast to make a return.
That said, considering that we haven't seen a B.R.U.T.E. in-game since the ending of Chapter 2 Season 8 in 2021, Epic Games may consider adding them back soon.
Perhaps this new variant will be tied into the storyline of Chapter 6 or part of the OG Fortnite in Chapter 1 Season X (10) — which is when the B.R.U.T.E. was first introduced to the Metaverse.
In any case, it will be a while before we can expect an update on this. And if not a new mech, perhaps something is being planned for the rumored Vehicle Royale mode in development.
