Rumor: Fortnite could see an increase in cosmetics soon

According to a rumor provided by Jorge_Most_, one of the most well-known Fortnite aficionados, Epic Games seems to be ramping up the production of cosmetics. In essence, this means that you will see cosmetics of all types being added to the Item Shop more frequently.

Here is a rough translation of Jorge_Most_ on "X" from Spanish to English:

"Epic Games is expanding its cosmetics production team, responsible for delivering and releasing the characters and accessories we see in-game. This could increase the pace and amount of skins and/or collaborations coming soon."

By the statement provided, if you have V-Bucks to spare and have been waiting to spend them, you will have your chance soon enough. This may be related to the fact that Fortnite Battle Passes are no longer exclusive.

Why could Fortnite be increasing the production of cosmetics?

With cosmetics returning to Item Shop after 18 months of being featured, new styles/variants could be offered for them as well. This could be one of the reasons why Epic Games is doubling down on the production of cosmetics.

Furthermore, with Metaverse expanding to incorporate more franchises, extra cosmetics will be needed as part of the many upcoming collaborations. That said, there could also be a good thing for community-driven cosmetics.

Fortnite Community cosmetics could be revived on a large scale

D3NNI_yt, who happens to be one of the most prominent concept artists had this to say on "X":

"I hope this means they’ll start buying community skin concepts again too!"

If Epic Games is indeed ramping up production, many artists may get the chance to have their work incorporated into the game. Since the community has a large base of concept artists, there will be no shortage of content for Epic Games to purchase and add to Fortnite.

No doubt the majority of these cosmetics will be Outfits some may even be featured in future Battle Passes, but there's scope for other ittems as well.

That being said, with Chapter 2 OG just beyond the horizon, new cosmetics will be introduced to the game en masse in a few days. Likely, the new lineup of cosmetics that are being planned once production is scaled will be featured in Chapter 6 and beyond.
