Sniper Glint is the latest feature that has been added to Fortnite and the community cannot be thankful enough for it. Whenever a player/opponent is using a Heavy Sniper in-game, a glint appears from the weapon's scope. This 'glint' can be seen by friends and foes alike and gives away the player's/opponent's location.
While players do love the one-shot stopping power of snipers, they can be difficult to spot from a distance, which is where the 'glint' feature comes into the picture. Thanks to this minor implementation, it's now possible to spot someone using a Heavy Sniper from afar.
This theoretically makes it possible to dodge the incoming bullet or hide behind cover at the very least. Given latency and other factors such as reaction time and distance from the target, not all sniper bullets can be dodged. Nevertheless, it's an interesting feature to have in Fortnite.

What does the community think about the 'Sniper Glint' feature in Fortnite?
While not all new features are accepted with open arms, this one is certainly the talk of the town on social media platforms. Ever since Chapter 4 Season 2 officially launched on March 10, 2023, the community as a whole has been surprised by the fact that the Heavy Sniper now has a glint in its scope.
Given that this feature has been present in other live-service games such as Battlefield, Overwatch, and even Splatoon, having it implemented in Epic Games' popular battle royale is a major win. That said, here's how fans reacted to this new feature:
As seen from the comments, some players didn't believe this news to be true at first, while others expressed joy. Although this new feature is certainly interesting, the community wants Epic Games to take things one step further by adding in traceable bullets as well.
Considering that the Heavy Sniper can be fired with high accuracy over hundreds of meters without incurring drop-off damage, this feature should help numerous players in Fortnite. Being able to see the exact location from where the shot originated would allow players/opponents to make better tactical decisions.
Will Epic Games apply this new 'glint' feature to all scoped-weapons in Fortnite?
Although the new 'glint' feature definitely suits the Heavy Sniper, adding it to all scoped-weapons such as the Cobra DMR may not be the best idea. While realism in video games does add to the overall immersion, not everything has to be done to make the battle royale title realistic.
Furthermore, the new 'Sniper Glint' feature was only added to make it easier for players to spot enemies using the potent Heavy Sniper in Fortnite. Since this weapon can one-hit targets and down/eliminate them, this 'glint' gives them a chance to avoid incoming fire. In real life, modern snipers generally don't have a 'glint.'
According to numerous threads and forums, military-grade snipers usually have anti-glare attachments on them. Furthermore, there are several 'technologies' that can be used to prevent the 'glint' that's normally used in video games.
With all that said, while the 'glint' is good for those on the opposing end of the sniper's barrel, those using it will have their work cut out for them. Those who manage to spot the 'glint' will likely make a beeline for the nearest object to hide behind or build a metal wall to stop an incoming bullet.
