The news of BGMI returning in India has made Free Fire fans wonder when this title might be making its comeback. FF was banned due to security reasons, along with 53 other applications, by the aforementioned country's government in 2022. After that, this game was removed from both Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Since then, fans have been awaiting news from the developers regarding its comeback.
Fans are delighted about Battlegrounds Mobile India's return after Krafton released official posts on the title's social media handles. This article discusses if FF is being unbanned in the country.
No news of Free Fire returning to India as BGMI get comeback announcement
There have been no statements from Garena regarding Free Fire's comeback. This indicates the title, unfortunately, isn't returning anytime soon; gamers might have to wait longer to find FF available on app stores in India.
That said, FF MAX, another Battle Royale title from Garena that offers similar gameplay has its servers active in India. Players can access their Free Fire accounts in it because both Free Fire and its MAX variant can run the same profile. This is possible due to the latter's Firelink technology.
The MAX version also has a larger download size since it offers better graphics and many new features.
The Indian government's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has granted a three-month approval to Krafton to re-release BGMI in the country. During this period, a close watch will be kept on the game's data and user behavior. These will be major factors in the final decision about whether BGMI should permanently return in India.
The game is all set to be released on app stores very soon, as hinted by the developers. Krafton India's CEO, Sean Hyunil Sohn, thanked Indian authorities and gamers who are were waiting for this title to return. He stated:
“We are highly grateful to the Indian authorities for allowing us to resume operations of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). We would like to extend our gratitude to our Indian gaming community for their support and patience over the past few months. We are excited to announce that Battlegrounds Mobile India will be available for download soon and we cannot wait to welcome you back to our platform."
It is recommended that players avoid downloading Free Fire via unofficial websites and sources because those APK files are likely to contain viruses. Moreover, getting it via dubious means only increases your chances of having your FF account banned from Garena's server. If that happens you will not be able to play this game on the same profile, and all your progress will be lost.
