Premier Futsal is a franchise-based Futsal league that is set to take place in India starting in July 2016. Premier Futsal calls itself the world’s first ever multi-national Futsal tournament and will be a three-week long tournament, played between eight different teams from eight different cities in India. The sneak peak of the league’s anthem has just been released on its official Twitter page.
The sneak peek of the video reveals that music maestro A.R Rahman will be collaborating with Indian test captain Virat Kohli, who is also the brand ambassador of the tournament. The anthem seems to have a funky tune with the video having clips of some futsal skills.
Earlier this month when it was revealed that Virat will be collaborating with A.R Rahman, he sounded worried. Virat said, "Many of my childhood memories have a connection to the tunes of this man. I know how to prepare for cricket, but I have no clue about a recording session; During any cricket game, the only song that gets everyone together is Vande Mataram - the version Rahman composed," said Kohli.
This is the world’s first ever multi-national Futsal based tournament. It was founded by entrepreneurs Abhinandan Balasubramanian, Dinesh Raj and Nithyashree Subban. It is also backed by business magnate Xavier Britto and his wife, philanthropist Vimala Britto. Portugal’s legendary footballer Luis Figo was announced as the President of the tournament.
Mumbai, Goa, Cochin, Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai and Delhi will have franchises representing them in the tourney. Each city will have a talent-hunt trial where players aged between 18 and 24 can participate. There will be 15 to 25 players selected from each city who will then be taken into a three-week long boot camp along with the international players, which will serve like a pre-season to the tournament.
After the end of the boot camp, five players will be selected from each city to represent their respective franchises. The tournament has already signed popular international players like Michel Salgado, Paul Scholes and Deco. Over 50 International Futsal players from four continents and 21 countries will participate in the league.
Each franchise will be assigned a marquee international football player, seven international players and the five Indian Futsal players (who will be selected from the boot camp) through a player draft scheduled later this month.
