FSR 3 is getting its first complete overhaul in the form of AMD FSR 3.1. Now, gamers can access even better frame generation performance and support thanks to the multiple visual quality improvements and permanent decoupling of the FG feature from the overall suite. This would allow players to use DLSS Super Resolution with AMD's frame generation, allowing the best of both worlds for GPUs that don't have DLSS 3.

AMD has stuck to being open-source for the latest update as well. You can utilize the benefits of the latest FSR iteration even without the latest Team Red graphics cards. Any capable card launched in the last five years is supported.

For now, five games have been confirmed to get the 3.1 update. AMD has partnered with Nixxes for this first wave. The library includes Horizon: Forbidden West, God of War: Ragnarok, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Ghost of Tsushima, and Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered.

FSR 3.1 is supported across the full AMD Radeon RX 7000 and RX 6000 series lineups. All graphics cards are launched with RDNA 2 and later pack native hardware for upscaling and frame generation.

For older AMD cards, only the Radeon RX 5700 and the RX 5700 XT from the original RDNA lineup are supported.

AMD Radeon RX 5000 series:

  • AMD Radeon RX 5700
  • AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT

AMD Radeon RX 6000 series:

  • AMD Radeon RX 6300
  • AMD Radeon RX 6400
  • AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT
  • AMD Radeon RX 6600
  • AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT
  • AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT
  • AMD Radeon RX 6700 10 GB
  • AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT
  • AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT
  • AMD Radeon RX 6800
  • AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT
  • AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT
  • AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT

AMD Radeon RX 7000 series:

  • AMD Radeon RX 7600
  • AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT
  • AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT
  • AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT
  • AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT

All Nvidia graphics cards from the last three generations support the latest upscaling FSR 3.1 tech. This includes the entire RTX 20, 30, and 40 series lineups. These cards pack Tensor cores, that specialize in deep learning-heavy workloads like FSR.

Nvidia RTX 20 series:

  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 2060
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 2060 Super
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 2070
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 2070 Super
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 Super
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 Ti

Nvidia RTX 30 series:

  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 3050 6 GB
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 3050 8 GB
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 3050 Ti laptop GPU
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 8 GB
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 12 GB
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 Ti
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070 Ti
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 3080
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 3080 Ti
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 3090
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 3090 Ti

Nvidia RTX 40 series:

  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 4050 laptop GPU
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 4060
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 4060 Ti 8 GB
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 4070
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 4070 Super
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 4070 Ti
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 4070 Ti Super
  • Nvidia Geforce RTX 4080

All Intel GPUs confirmed to get FSR 3.1

The Intel Arc lineup is also supported as part of FSR 3.1's suite. Other than the Arc A310, which is too weak to provide reasonable gains with frame generation, you can expect solid performance gains on all Intel GPUs.

Intel Arc series:

  • Intel Arc A310
  • Intel Arc A380
  • Intel Arc A580
  • Intel Arc A750
  • Intel Arc A770 8 GB
  • Intel Arc A770 16 GB

Gamers with an RTX 20 or 30 series graphics card will benefit the most following the latest update. This is because frame generation has now been decoupled from FSR, which means you can use DLSS Super Resolution, which delivers far higher-quality image output, alongside the FG feature for much higher framerate gains.

This can be a potential game changer and add years of shelf life to the older Nvidia cards.
