Nvidia DLSS 2 continues to be the most widely supported upscaling tech. Since being introduced in 2020, the feature has been added to over 500 games, and the library continues to grow. Most popular games these days support DLSS 2, thanks to its widespread availability and decent image output quality. However, not all Nvidia graphics cards support the technology.
While DLSS 2 doesn't have the limitations of the newer DLSS 3, which locks most of the latest advancements of the RTX 40 series graphics cards, it still requires Tensor cores. Nvidia has been bundling this hardware with their cards since 2016 when the GTX 10 series launched. However, not all GPUs shipped with Tensor cores support DLSS.
In this article, we'll go over all GPUs that support the upscaling technology. If your card isn't listed here, you can still use AMD FSR to get some quality framerate boosts.
How does Nvidia DLSS 2 work?
The way DLSS 2 works is simple. The GPUs render the game at a much lower resolution. Then, with the help of some fancy Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), the deep learning model predicts a higher-resolution alternative to the image.
For each game that's supported, DLSS is trained on a bunch of data that teaches it the differences between a lower and a higher-resolution image from the game. Then, with some time, it can make predictions that are hard to distinguish.
Now, the deep learning model does make some mistakes. Gamers can notice shimmering and artifacts in most supported games. These issues were addressed partially with the newer DLSS 3 tech that uses a completely revamped deep learning model along with frame interpolation to deliver higher framerate gains besides improved output picture quality.

Multiple Nvidia GPUs support DLSS 2 upscaling
All Nvidia RTX GPUs support DLSS 2. Although the older GTX 10 series lineup packs the required Tensor hardware, the technology never became available on the older graphics cards.

This list is set to expand further later this year when the Blackwell-based RTX 50 series GPUs drop. However, these cards have access to DLSS 3 with frame generation, which delivers way higher framerate gains than the older standard.
