As you can see, both lineups share a lot of similarities. They support similar GPUs but are quite different in terms of display size, CPU, and form factor. Strix laptops are large, with the smallest model in this line being 16" and the largest 18".

Thus, it's not surprising that they are quite heavy. Zephyrus laptops, however, are lighter and more compact. In fact, this lineup's 16" variant is almost 2 lbs lighter than its Strix counterpart.

Both lineups share the same RAM and storage features. Even though their laptops come with similar GPU options, the devices perform quite differently due to the processors. Check out the section below for more on performance and display.

Both lineups feature the holy grail of RTX GPUs, including the RTX 4090, the most powerful option in this card series to date. However, they feature different GPUs, with the top-end Strix featuring the Intel Core i9-14900HX and the Zephyrus offering the Ultra 9 185H.

Both processors are quite similar, but the former is faster on paper. We have sourced the following framerate data from the GizmoSlipTech YouTube channel to see how laptops in both lineups perform. Note that the framerates you see below are derived from systems with the RTX 4090 graphics processor and slightly different CPUs.

Games (with RTX 4090)

Apex Legends

As you can see, the gap in fps between both lineups is super small, and this performance difference is non-existent on screen. The 2-3 fps difference is hardly visible, as we're well into a hundred frames per second. Thus, the choice of which series to go for to get comes down to budget alone.

Asus ROG Strix vs Asus ROG Zephyrus: Display and Battery

The Asus ROG Strix and the ROG Zephyrus have very different form factors. The former lineup's laptops are large, with the smallest one being 16" and the biggest one being 18". Zephyrus offers more compact options, with the smaller one being 14" and the larger 16". When it comes to resolution, they both feature QHD+ and 2.5K displays, so there isn't that big of a difference there.

What surprised me most is that all ROG Strix models, except the base one, feature a 90Wh battery. That means, of the 15+ Strix laptops that are available, the budget version is the only one with a smaller 56Wh battery. This is a big deal in terms of value for money.

Zephyrus laptops, on the other hand, feature a 90Wh on the expensive models and a 76Wh on the lower-priced ones.

Asus ROG Strix vs Asus ROG Zephyrus: Value for money

I think the Asus ROG Strix can offer far greater value for money, as it offers affordable performance laptops. This lineup starts at $999 and goes up to $3,899, while the Zephyrus starts at $2,199 and goes as high as $3,999.

Spending $4,000 on a gaming laptop is super unnecessary, so anything around $2,500 would be sufficient for years to come. Thus, in terms of value for money, the Strix would be the better option because of the features it offers at affordable rates.

The lineup has the performance, display, and battery to make for a solid gaming laptop. Unless you're into design and creative work, there really isn't a reason to pay the hefty price for a Zephyrus.

Asus ROG Strix vs Asus ROG Zephyrus: Final Verdict

Finally, the comparison of the ROG Strix and the Zephyrus has come to a close, and we have a winner. The Strix, being an affordable and powerful lineup, takes the cake. This series has large devices, but you could go for the 16" version, which isn't that beefy.

However, if you want a laptop for more than gaming, you could go for the Asus ROG Zephyrus. Its devices are much better for artists and creators, with some options having an additional display. Thus, the final choice comes down to your personal needs and preferences.
