What are the best PC builds for Ryzen 7 9700X?

1) Best 1080p PC build ($820)

  • Motherboard: ASRock B650M Pro RS WiFi Micro ATX AM5
  • GPU: XFX Speedster SWFT 210 Radeon RX 7600 XT
  • RAM: TEAMGROUP T-Create Expert 32 GB DDR5
  • Storage: Kingston NV2 1 TB M.2
  • Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE
  • PSU: Corsair RM650
  • Case: NZXT H5 Flow
  • Total: $822.84

This option is more of a budget build, featuring components capable of comfortably gaming at 1080p. We haven't gone overboard on the specs and have kept it to a minimum, so it's nothing too flashy, but at the same time, it is excellent for 1080p gaming. We've paired it with an AMD card here. The RX 7600XT really doesn't disappoint when paired with the AMD Ryzen 7 9700X.

With this build, you get 32GB RAM and 1TB storage, which should be enough for the most part. In case you fall short, you can always upgrade, as the B650M motherboard we've used has plenty of room. This is all housed in the NZXT H5 Flow case, which has a mid-tower form factor.

2) Best high-end 1080p gaming PC build ($890)

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte B650M D3HP Micro ATX AM5
  • GPU: MSI VENTUS 2X BLACK OC GeForce RTX 4060 8GB
  • RAM: TEAMGROUP T-Create Expert 32 GB (2 x 16 GB)
  • Storage: Samsung 980 Pro 1 TB M.2
  • Cooler: NZXT Kraken 240
  • PSU: MSI MAG A650BN
  • Case: NZXT H6 Flow ATX Mid Tower Case
  • Total: $889.95

For the high-end 1080p gaming PC build, we've slightly upped the specs compared to the previous one. The RTX 4060 is the Nvidia equivalent of the RX 7600XT, but then again, it is a tad bit faster. We've retained the 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD specifications but have chosen a larger 240mm cooler to keep the temperatures in check.

As for the motherboard, we have chosen the Gigabyte B650M, which, like the previous one, has plenty of room for future upgrades. It is also well-suited for overclocking builds if you plan on doing so.

3) Best 1440p gaming PC build ($1300)

  • Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING B650M-PLUS WIFI Micro ATX AM5
  • GPU: MSI VENTUS 2X OC GeForce RTX 4070 12 GB
  • RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 32GB DDR5
  • Storage: Crucial P3 Plus 2 TB M.2
  • Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III
  • PSU: Corsair RM850e
  • Case: Lian Li O11 Vision ATX Mid Tower Case
  • Total: $1308.87

If you're willing to spend a bit more, you can enjoy gaming at 1440p. For this build, we've paired the AMD Ryzen 7 9700X with the RTX 4070 GPU, which can easily run most games at relatively high settings. Moreover, you get ray tracing capabilities and can experience high-quality gaming at a decent price point.

For the motherboard, we've gone for the B650-M Plus chipset, which is also future-proof, with multiple ports and sockets for upgrades. You're also getting 32 gigs of DDR5 RAM along with 2TB storage, which is a small upgrade from the previous ones. All in all, these components are housed in the Lian Li O11 Vision case, which offers an ample amount of airflow to keep the components cool.

4) Best 4K gaming PC build ($1840)

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte X670 GAMING X AX V2 ATX AM5
  • GPU: MSI VENTUS 2X OC GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16 GB
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance 64GB DDR5
  • Storage: Samsung 980 Pro 2 TB M.2
  • Cooler: NZXT Kraken Elite 360 RGB
  • PSU: Corsair RM1000x
  • Case: Fractal Design Pop XL Air ATX Full Tower Case
  • Total: $1835.89

The AMD Ryzen 7 9700X paired with the RTX 4070 Ti Super is a perfect match as it allows you to play almost any game at 4K resolution without any compromises. We've paired them up with 64 gigs of RAM and 2 terabytes of storage.

Almost any motherboard featuring an X670 chipset is an absolute beast and makes for a solid gaming companion. The Gigabyte X670 comfortably houses the Ryzen 7 9700X and is roomy enough for future upgrades. You can go for pretty much any case, but we went with the Fractal Design Pop XL Air, as it had the perfect form factor and also looked great.

5) No compromises build ($3060)

  • Motherboard: MSI MAG X670E TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX AM5
  • GPU: Gigabyte WINDFORCE V2 GeForce RTX 4090 24GB
  • RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 64GB DDR5
  • Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 4 TB M.2
  • Cooler: Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX XT
  • PSU: Corsair RM1000x
  • Case: Lian Li O11 Dynamic EVO XL ATX Full Tower Case
  • Total: $3060.95

If you're willing to pay top dollar for the best components out there, a no-compromises build might be the one for you. In this build, we have paired the AMD Ryzen 7 9700X with the holy grail of GPUs, the Nvidia RTX 4090. We've beefed it up even more with 64 gigs of RAM and 4 terabytes of storage, all powered by the 1000W Corsair RM1000x PSU.

We've also used the X670 here as it is simply one of the best motherboards for the card. All of this is stored in the Lian Li O11 Dynamic EVO XL full tower case, which has plenty of room for storage and optimal airflow. If you can afford this build, you can be sure to have something that can last you for many years to come.
