Zenless Zone Zero is the latest open-world action RPG game to take the world by storm. In fact, it has over a million downloads on Google Play Store alone as of writing. It is also #1 on the App Store's Role Playing Game chart, so you can imagine how popular ZZZ has become on mobile phones. As a result of its hype, many fans may be curious to know if they can play it on their phones at 90FPS for a smooth gameplay experience.
That's exactly what we plan to figure out in this article. You will find everything you need to know about running Zenless Zone Zero at 90FPS on phones below.
Note: The article is based on the information that is currently available, and certain things may change with future updates to the game.
Why you can't run Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) at 90FPS on phones
The game is locked to 60 FPS and will not run above 60 on phones no matter what you do. So the answer is no, or at least not yet. It's true for both iPhones and Android phones, but unlike iOS, Android's system can be reconfigured by a computer via Android Debug Bridge (adb) tools.
With this tool, we were able to get inside the phone's internal file system and set Zenless Zone Zero to an unlocked framerate. However, it still ran on 60 FPS, which means the developers have locked it up pretty well. Even if your phone has the performance to run this ZZZ at 90FPS, the game will simply refuse to play at that framerate.
Will you be able to play Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) at 90FPS on phones in the future?
We are hoping we can, but it's not in our hands. Only HoYoVerse can provide the update needed to unlock the framerates, but the developers have refused to comment on it so far.
Genshin Impact, another hit game from HoYoverse, also can't run at 90FPS on Android, but it can play at 90FPS on iPhones, and the same can happen again with this game. As such, you will have to keep an eye out for upcoming updates.
Are phones capable of playing Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) at 90FPS?
Most iPhones and Android phones with the latest chipsets are probably capable of playing this game at 90FPS, but it all comes down to HoYoverse. Only the developer can enable 90FPS support, but it's not happening yet. It probably requires more time to test it before the 90FPS framerate control is enabled for the game. All you can do is wait for the update to be released.
