Gameshare on Xbox is an excellent feature, as it allows you to share your favorite games with friends and family and vice versa for everyone to experience and enjoy. You don't need to spend money on an expensive Xbox game if your friend already has it in their account. Furthermore, you can share subscription services, such as Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass.

Although the sharing procedure is fairly simple, there are a few key factors to remember. In this article, we will go over the steps needed to use gameshare on Xbox.

The Xbox gamesharing process has certain limitations, including:

  • Game Share is limited to two accounts. Games cannot be shared with more than one person.
  • Gamesharing is only available for digital games.
  • Share games only with people you can trust because they will know your account details.
  • In a calendar year, you are limited to five changes to the status of your home Xbox.

How to gameshare on Xbox in 8 easy steps

Step 1:

To access a friend's game library, you need to add their account to your Xbox. Similarly, your friend has to add your account to their Xbox to proceed. Open the menu by pressing the Xbox button.

Go to "Profile & System" and click "Add or switch."

Select the option "Add new." Thereafter, add your friend's Xbox account to your console.

Then, select "My home Xbox."

Turn on the option "Make this my home Xbox" to enable gameshare.

Step 8:

The final step is to repeat the process on your friend's console and set your account as "Home Xbox."

After enabling gameshare on Xbox with your friend's account, you can return to your account. Note that you will still have access to all the games and subscriptions on your friend's account.


You can save a lot of money on games with gameshare on Xbox. The feature is compatible with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. However, Xbox Series X games cannot be played on an Xbox One.
