Genki showcases a Nintendo Switch 2 mockup at CES 2025, suggests console launch in April

After a surprise reel showcase, Genki has been showing dummy mockups of the Nintendo Switch 2 at the currently ongoing CES 2025 event in Las Vegas. French website Numerana posted a video from the show floor where company presenters can be seen with the mockup in their hands, which is supposed to represent the real thing in its size and design.

Furthermore, the outlet suggests that according to several accessory manufacturers including Genki, a launch for the upcoming portable is planned for April 2025. Here are the full details.

Nintendo Switch 2 mockup revealed by Genki at CES 2025

As per the third-party manufacturer, this model of the hybrid console is based on the real console that they have and not just 3D impressions. This claim rings true if we consider how the recently revealed reel from Genki is extremely detailed, down to minute tidbits like the new optical sensor on the Joy-cons.

This, along with the new button on the right Joy-con beneath the Home button, seems to have a new purpose that is still unclear to these accessory manufacturers. They have not showcased any games either, which is to be expected since they do not have access to them. That said, the console will supposedly launch in April 2025, just after the end of the current fiscal year.

Nintendo has previously revealed that they have no plans for a launch before the fiscal year ends on March 31, 2025, so this tracks. If true, then we only have a few months until launch which means an announcement is right around the corner.
