NetherRealm Studios' upcoming fighting game, Mortal Kombat 1, was recently announced with a bombastic trailer that gave fans a first look at some of the returning characters and the bold new direction of the game's narrative. And now, with the game's pre-orders going live on all platforms, NetherRealm Studios has finally revealed the system requirements for the PC version of Mortal Kombat 1.
Although the upcoming Mortal Kombat is releasing a current-generation console title exclusively, with no previous-generation port of the game announced, the PC requirements for the game are surprisingly on the lower end of the spectrum. However, one thing that might catch some players by surprise is the massive file size of the game, requiring 100 gigabytes of storage.
Here's everything you need to know about Mortal Kombat 1 from its recently revealed system requirements for the game's PC version.
Mortal Kombat 1's system requirements are on the lower end of the spectrum, recommending 8 gigabytes of RAM and GTX 1080ti
Most recently released current-generation exclusive games have had obnoxiously high system requirements lately. Games like Forspoken, Dead Space remake, and Redfall are some of the biggest titles featuring system requirements that far exceed the general PC specifications owned by most PC gamers. However, Mortal Kombat 1 seems to be an exception to this rule, as its system requirements are quite low.
Here are the official minimum and recommended system requirements to play this title:
Minimum system requirements
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
- Processor: Intel Core i5-6600 | AMD Ryzen 3 3100 or Ryzen 5 2600
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 or AMD Radeon RX 470, or Intel Arc A750
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 100 GB available space
Recommended system requirements
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: Windows 10/11 64-bit
- Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 | AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT or Intel Arc A770
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 100 GB available space
While the system requirements are generally on the lower side, the storage requirement is a bit higher, with 100 gigabytes of SSD or HDD space required for the game. It remains to be seen how much the actual file size ends up being on release; however, anyone interested in playing the game on release might want to invest in storage expansion for their PC.
Mortal Kombat 1 will be released on September 19, 2023, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store).
